Did anyone else catch that Marni Nixon passed away at the end of July? Her film face lives on! Thanks to her for her contribution to our favourite movie.

Yeah I think most of us who are on Facebook, saw it there. I was on holidays in Greece while I read it, it made my really sad, I told me parents I wanted to stay in the hotel (I didn't tell them why though), instead of going to the beach and I watched TSOM while I was alone to lift my spirits again. Luckily her legacy will live on in all those iconic movies (including as the singing voice behind the screen on My Fair Lady and West Side Story).

And The King and I.
Yes I heard. It was actually rather ironic; I was watching the ITV Live version of TSOM, and when Sister Sophia appeared near the beginning I thought of Marni. Afterwards I pulled up Facebook to hear she had died. Very sad news.
R.I.P Marni

Yeah, it was posted on Facebook and a few of my vocal friends posted it. One of them knew her and took voice lessons from her. He said she was a lot of fun and very nice, someone who really knew music well.

I bet she was a wonderful teacher. I learned so much simply by listening to her.

I just posted a Sister Sophia focused story. I had it planned, and thought now would be a good time to write it The Hidden Singer

utility_singer and I saw Marni being live-interviewed at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York (I might have the name of the museum wrong) a little more than a year ago. She was charming and lively. RIP Marni!
