I can't stop crying. I'm having an identity and existential crisis, now. I don't even know where home is anymore.

Just look at our avatars, would you? I mean, he was 91, the thought had crossed my mind that he wouldn't live forever, but he was so active and thriving that it seems like an especially cruel blow.

Usually I can just cry it out, but I can't stop the sobbing. I had to retreat back to my childhood blankie for comfort.

The first article completely wrung my heart and the last made me laugh (but also want to cry), but oh, isn't this line just so perfect?
"Plummer’s presence lingers even in the scenes where he is not"
Amen to that.

I have yet to see a cause of death. Where did you read that about the fall?
All of you know I’m heartbroken, too!

The New York Times said he passed away after having a fall at home two and a half weeks ago. He hit his head apparently. I imagine that could cause a lot of things like an aneurysm or a stroke. www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/christopher-plummer-obituary-1.5902845

I went to the humane society yesterday to meet a puppy my family and I were planning to adopt then I came home to see on Tumblr that Chris had passed away...I've been feeling completely numb all day and I can't even watch anything with him or I'll start bawling...it hurts for sure.

Does anyone have any inklings, interviews, etc. about what Chris might have believed politically? With Julie she's super outspoken and in favor of things like #MeToo, and things of that nature, so it's not hard to gather. But with Chris, maybe I just haven't looked hard enough? Either that or he really just never publicly stated any political opinions for fear of losing work, which is understandable. I hope someone knows something because it dawned on me today that I have zero clue. He must have voted in U.S. Elections after becoming a citizen, right? Maybe I should have finished his auto-biography, lol. Reading and I don't get along.

Little snippets I have read in these dark days which have made me smile:
Christopher Plummer had a voice with which you could polish mirrors
And Sandi Toksveig recalled showing TSOM, her favourite movie, on a real film projector she had hired to show it at a party. They watched part of it backwards, which was not ideal for the family getting away...

Voices have always interested me, probably being raised on lots of music contributed to that.

I don't believe he ever became a US citizen; thus he would not be able to legally vote. He came from a time when it was considered gauche to discuss politics. I don't know he ever really did, at least not publicly.

Love these articles. I especially like the first one that talks about how even though the Laendler is all music and no dialogue, it is still more sexy than any R rated movie. Yes!

Long time lurker, first time contributor here.
I, too, am so saddened by the loss of Mr. Plummer. I’ve always admired his great body of work, and he is the one who truly made Shakespeare make sense to me.
I finished his memoir for the third time a few weeks ago. It’s one of my favorite books, because it’s so delightfully entertaining. I catch new things each time. It is obvious from his memoir, and his works, that he greatly enjoyed Cyrano de Bergerac. From championing the (IMO) best translation of the work, to his Tony winning performance in the musical version, Cyrano seemed to continue to be present in his life. It occurred to me last night that, in the end, he went out almost exactly like Cyrano: from a head injury, and next to the woman he loved deeply. I don’t know about you all, but it gave me some comfort to find that parallel. I imagine he would have appreciated that coincidence.

Depending on if he was told by a doctor that the fall had produced some kind of terminal injury, he probably would have recognized the parallel, as well. The fall was actually two and a half weeks before he even passed away, so he may have known about his situation in advance, or maybe not. I wonder if it caused some kind of Aneurysm or a Stroke to occur.

Found this article, and there's a part that I wonder if anyone has a picture of.
"Debbie meanwhile revealed Christopher could be funny on set as she recalled him trying to make her laugh during a serious scene.
“The camera was on his back but my face and I remember him making faces at me,” she told the hosts.
“My dad caught a picture of him doing this. He had one of those original Polaroid cameras.”
Debbie added: “It was just kind of fun to remember he really did have a soft side.”"
Does anyone have a copy of that photo, or maybe Debbie has posted said photo online before? I'd love to see the picture.

He was also the great-grandson of Canada's 3rd Prime Minister. Otherwise, as far as I know he kept his political thoughts to himself. I don't have a doubt in my mind that he held dual citizenship. As much as the US officially dislikes it, you can be a dual citizen except in certain circumstances. Just don't go crying to the closest embassy or consulate if you're in trouble in your home country. So if he had ever gotten into legal trouble in Canada (and I say this for myself too) the US wouldn't help out.

He didn't say in his memoir that he became a citizen. My guess is he held a green card for permanent residency and permission to work.

I saw an interview in which he expressed support for #metoo, which I found somewhat ironic since his own conduct was not exactly exemplary. Here it is: Christopher Plummer on me too

No worries, honestly. I mean, it's your decision. I hope I didn't upset you. I guess I'm the type of person don't like seeing the bad side of people. I agree with you that people can redeem themselves. The famous man once said, we are all better than the worst thing we’ve done. Oh, yes. I read an article today that said "Christopher Plummer Reminds Us It's Never Too Late" and I'm really glad he had someone like Elaine in his life. She really helped him through a lot. www.villages-news.com/2021/02/13/christopher-plummer-reminds-us-its-never-too-late/

It was a very different time. Not excusing boorish behavior, but I take issue when we judge things in the far past by current standards.
