Methinks I will play it to myself through headphones when I can't get to sleep - Plummer's dulcet tones will sooth me, even if I don't fall into slumber.
Just have to make sure I don't do it inadvertently when my husband is here!! Thanks, Anne!

I was thinking I need to use the headphones, as well. Or wait until I'm home by myself. Which is starting to feel like it will never, ever happen.

Close your eyes. Imagine a big comfortable room full of screens, and poufy chairs and sofas, and a soft carpet, and refrigerators full of yummy snacks and . . . . your new 10 or so BFFs from this-here group. Hmmm. Loverly.

He's so lucky, Christopher Plummer; by the time they are 80+, most men are pallid and tottery, with a thin reedy voice, wispy hair and deaf! Not so our friend...how does he do it? If he had lived a life of sobriety and good nutrition, and avoided the fags and drink and taken exercise, I would say 'Fair Cop'. But read his autobiography and it was not so! This guy is ?85 and wowing audiences with his one-man-show...amazing!
Do we have the wrong health directives?! (Anne this one is for you!)

Well, wait, I think it's yours, @indigoblue, or @charleybec s, because he obviously has some genetic advantage that one would have to have a scientific background to understand. He did quit smoking (I love that story in his memoirs) and drinking as we know, and apparently he has been a gym rat for at least a little while. And you're right, he is far superior to men his age (your description has me rolling on the floor with laughter - I don't care if it takes five years, we are going to get you writing!)

Ah, you are so kind! I will let you know when it ever happens, but in the meantime I have to resort to creating twists in plots in my mind when the domesticity gets too mundane, to keep my grey cells alive!

It's the sex. Sex kept him young. And probably keeps, as well. Elaine is quite a honey.

I'm actually 76,
You know, there is a part of me that wants to say that sometimes the people who put themselves out there as the biggest Lotharios . . . aren't. We've all seen that plot device somewhere, right? Not that it has anything to do with CP.

Do you think he knows he has a gorgeous voice? People probably say that to him all the time? I think he should do an audiobook of poetry for the common good!

He has done such an audiobook, I had seen it!!! Check pirate bay.... He has been a professional actor since he was 18. So it is natural that he reads and speaks with such a well-constructed voice. Voice as well as appearance are tools in an actor's work.

I couldn't find it, but I'll keep looking. Wouldn't it be nice to put on a pair of headphones and drift off to sleep to that voice reading something soft and soothing?

I find 2 audiobooks, one with poetry of coleridge, I was talking about this. And another one about the nutcracker.

What if he found some of TSoM fanfiction and actually read it as a joke? Everyone here would lose their minds.

Some probably love the attention and want to see what people are saying about them. Others are probably embarrassed by it and avoid it like the plague. I have read several fics in this fandom that made me blush, so I can't imagine how Chris or Julie would feel reading them!

I think he probably knows he is mega-handsome because people are always saying that sort of thing (if you are), but if someone has a delicious voice, not so much.
Ironic, because I am a sucker for a gorgeous voice, and his is just the best. Sometimes I meet a man to whom I am not initially attracted to physically, but once he begins talking, I'm quivering at the knees, and it takes a while for me to work it out! I can't begin to think what I would do if I met CP in person...collapse, probably.

For me it is usually the timbre, but can also be the accent and the way it is delivered. And in general the lower the better!
But as to exactly what it is that makes my knees go to jelly, I don't know- except that I know I can listen to CP all day...

For me it's the accent and smoothness of the voice. also, how deep it is.

For me it's their accent, their tone, and how well they can enunciate (mumbled singing is the worst!!). They should also be able to sing in a variety of different moods, if you know what I mean... Most importantly, how much emotion they are putting into their singing. Personally I think that Julie Andrews and CP both do a very amazing job with these things.

It was dubbed over by Bill Lee.

The thought that maybe one of you or one of the fanfic writers I read is actually Julie or Chris made me smile. It's not impossible, just highly improbable.
