I think you gave yourself away somewhere else in cyber land!! Well my valentines day consisted of giving Ben the chocolates that I had bought for myself for him to give to me (which he forgot to do) plus my traditional card from my dad (I've received one every year from him since I was born). Oh I just had lunch with my dad as well which was nice. Let's see whether Ben does a better effort tonight when he gets home.

i hope he does! i don't expect much, and the weather might not cooperate w/ our plans to go out to dinner. but we'll see. and actually, the card process was a lot less painful than i anticipated. the worst part was reminding my husband that it was supposed to be fun as much as i had to remind my son to focus on writing his name on the cards.

Actually, the whole thing is a big joke - we don't usually go in for all the commercialisation around the day (I think it's a complete rip off). The fact that had to buy my own present is the best joke of the day. Kind of like the year he bought me a card, forgot to write on it or give it to me so we recycled the blank card for the next 3 years or so. It is almost like whoever does the least for the least money is the winner of the day! Sometimes we have a weird sense of humour with these type of things but it works for us. I think if he seriously forgot, he would be in trouble.

I dunno. I think I might win for receving the 'cheesiest' card, from Mr. Utility:
"I love you more than pizza" inside: "Don't tell pizza"
Yes, that's the kind of people we are.
Though, we don't really 'do' Valentines Day, as our anniversary is Feb. 19.

Now I'm having dinner at work with my colleagues and then we have to serve a 5 course meal to all the couples that are in loooovvveee. Funny we're talking about love in the fight-topic.

Yep, one tracked mind!
We used to be romantic - we even used to go out to dinner and buy each other presents each month (sigh). Well... That was 12 years ago.... And we're now married and I had dinner by myself with the kids last night as he got home late from work. Yep...

well we don't celebrate valentines as much as you do in the states.... But YES the commercial franchises have invaded the Danish stores in a BIG way... WAY too much if you ask me... still think of it as an American tradition (maybe also British.... ) ..... don't misunderstand me... I have nothing against Valentines... It's just that 20 years ago I don't think that the stores in Denmark even considered having valentines stuff for sale... the same with Halloween actually... But they make money... that's for sure.. But yes the "Lovey dovey" romance of our early years is not the same.... But I know my hubby loves me and I love him... and we try to make room for romantic ALONE time (ex dinner out in town) to keep the flame alive and that is important... especially when having two small children...
