If someone can help me add a date to these gorgeous pictures of Julie, that would be great! Thanks! They were taken from Instagram: @galleryofjulie @superjulesandrews

Oh my goodness the pictures are so pretty and julie andrews is so pretty!!! What is this unfairness I've never seen the first two before but they are absolutely gorgeous... Unfortunately I don't know the dates of the pictures either, but I guessing the last one (judging from her hair GAHAHAHAHA) is from the...late 1950s? Maybe the second one is from...70s? Sorry I'm not much of a help here haha but if you ever need someone to fangirl over JA please call me anytime HAHAHA

That's why I wasn't sure. The second one could be from the 60s or 70s? It's hard to tell because you can't see her hair all that much to make an educated guess. I think the third one, as you said as well, looks like late 1950s.

I usually judge her age in photos by her hair and/or makeup, but sometimes it's hard to see.... I've never even seen the first one and I couldn't really tell you.
The second one I would say sometime in the 70s, maybe. I wish I could see her hair.
The third I seem to recall was by Cecil Beaton, and if taken at the same time as the others, is from 1959.

Nice we are so good at this HAHAHHAHA if there ever was a Julie Andrews course somewhere we'd be the best teachers to teach it ever haha
Anyway the first one I guess is from the early-mid 60s? Judging from her physique and makeup (??)

Yeah, the hair looks like from the 60s, right? But the dress looks like it could be from the previous decade so I dunno.

I was just reading in a book that before she came to the US to do The Boyfriend, she was featured in fashion layouts in England's 'Woman' magazine. I wonder if the first one is from one of those features?

I think that would make sense- they would fit a magazine layout, and she looks younger than in TSOM, but not a child, either, so I would guess early 1960s.
And just LOOK at that waist!! What a stunner!

If it was before The Boyfriend, it would have been 50's, which certainly fits the hair and the dress. And I've read that the waist on Maria's wedding dress was 20 inches. Which was AFTER she had Emma! Crazy tiny.

Ok: looking at hairstyles
First one: she doesn't have the part in the centre so not the 50's but her hair is longer than during TSOM, and she looks younger than in TSOM so my take will be around '62-63.
Second one: I'm pretty sure that's from either the Julie andrews hour ('73-'74) or one of the other TV specials Julie did (many between '65 and '75)
Third one: Part in the centre, looking baby faced - my take is around 1957 (that photo is in one of my Julie books but there isn't a date, only saying photo credit from The Globe)
Oh: as for the waistline - i'm sure there was an interview around the time of the 50th for Mary Poppins where Julie jokes she wished she still had the waistline she had back then!

After having 2 children and getting closer to 40, I have given up on the idea of a smaller waistline.
I love that first photo........so classic.

Agh, I don't think I will ever have a waist that small. The smallest waist I remember having was 26 inches at age 13, standing 5'3" tall (close to my current height) and just over 100 lbs. That was a bit too much info to share.

The second pic just popped up on my FB feed from Simply Julie. It was in an album called 'Photoshoots '60s' and had the caption 'Trying on hats for Mary Poppins' Don't know how much validity said caption has, but thought I might mention it

Her face looks different than for Mary Poppins. More like Darling Lili.

Yeah, I do notice that. There's a lot of mix up on the premiere pics, but, like you, it's so brilliant I don't care

It doesn't look like cigarette, maybe a pen? It looks like a stick or something hard that she's biting on.

We just had another photo of her wearing that same dress. I remember commenting on her tiny waist. I think it was on the Mary Poppins set.

I just checked out the MP picture and while it's a similar print, that dress is sleeveless. Also this new photo is from the mid '50's - it's the hair style (MFL days).
