One thing I've always loved about TSOM is that the movie's ending - and the fact that it differs from the real life actions of the von Trapps - allows views and us writers to really sink our teeth into the 'mysteries' of what happened to them after they fled Austria. Some of my absolute favourite fanfictions are the ones that deal with the time period of their lives; so much so, that my newest fanfiction is about just that.
I was wondering, since this is such a prominent topic (and unknown when you separate the movie from the lives of the real von Trapp family) if you guys have your own theories and ideas as to what course of action they took once they were over the alps. Or, what you would have them do if you were tasked with writing some kind of sequel or follow up?
Personally, the idea that I've always held in my mind is that they would have spent an undisclosed amount of time in Switzerland before - most likely - making their way to England (due to Agethe's parents) before eventually - as we know - moving to America. Again, though, I tend to keep the movie family separate from the real family
