I was just perusing through videos on YouTube for The Sound of Music, as you do, and I just so happened to stumble across this video... I'm not really sure how I feel about this to be honest... Let me know what you think.

I've seen it, but I'm not a fan.

I can't really say I like it either. I was laughing through most of it until the distorted version of "The Hills Are Alive" began to play. Then I just felt weird. I can't accurately describe the feeling I had.

Seen it before and thought it was quite well edited, it takes skill and time to edit something like that you know. It's as if all the previous governesses have disappeared mysteriously. lol But yeah, like you said, when the distorted version of "The Hills Are Alive" began to play, I was like "now you ruined it for me". That said I'm not a horror fan at all. Never saw the fun or purpose in that genre...but nevertheless thought it was quite funny.

I liked how the creator made it seem as if all the governess's had gone missing and I liked how the Captain kept popping up everywhere. It really was the ending song that made me go "aaaaand nope". I watched one for Mary Poppins as well and I couldn't but laugh through that either. They didn't distort her voice, but they added some pretty creepy music instead and made her out to be a killer witch.

I saw quite a few TSOM horror trailers on YouTube a few years ago. I found them funny and I never saw them as an insult towards the movie. Props to the person who took the time to edit it. He or she must have known the movie inside out to be able to pick out the appropriate parts and make them look "scary". I found another one which I found even scarier: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzG8ZQAhKrE

I found quite a few more after I posted this and I just couldn't stop laughing. Then there was another one that wasn't a fake horror trailer, but someone completely dismantling The Sound of Music and turning it into a horror scenario. I absolutely do not recommend watching that one. I had to stop listening only a minute into it because it became unsettling and disturbing rather quickly: I was certainly not going to listen to the full six minutes.

LOL I think it's quite clever ! Being in production myself, I have to say that I am first and foremost impressed by the creativity and cleverness. I am not a horror fan either, but I think these recut trailers are wonderful exercise in perception and point of view, so I always enjoy watching them as long as they remain "respectful" to the source material.
