Just a little FYI, but I was looking at a photo of real G with Agathe on his Wikipedia entry. I enlarged it to try and get a look at the brooch she was wearing and noticed that G was wearing a wedding ring. Not common at the time, so the movie G is in fact correct in wearing one.

Wow! I'd seen the picture before, but never paid attention to the fact that he was wearing a wedding ring in that photograph. Well spotted!

Interesting, definitely not the norm for that time period; however, not unusual for military men. During the World Wars a lot of men would wear them to remind them of their wives back home. It was a symbol that they had someone waiting for them who loved them. The wedding band on men didn't become mainstream popular until after WWII.
