I was reading an article in the paper about this natty roadster, thinking how nice it would be if I owned one.
It was built by Mercedes Benz around 1936 (342 were made, only 29 in this Roadster version), with a 5 litre engine and top speed of 100mph. This one was stolen from its German owners in the confusion at the end of WW2, and shipped out to America. It's now been sent back to the original owners, and is up for auction at a pretty price.
But the more I looked at it, the more I realised that (I think) it is our Captain's car - in Roadster version- I seem to remember that too was a Mercedes 500K like this, but I cannot find the post that we have on this board detailing such things. Can anyone find it?
