I'd seen this footage before in a longer video that is sometimes available online, but here are the brief glimpses of CP and his daugher in 1963. She was born in 1957, so as it is often said that he did not see her much after the age of 8 or so, this must have been one of their rarer early times together. Sad. I guess when you grow up without a father it might be hard to know how to be one. Click here - you have to wait a bit for it to load and scroll down to the bit about Stratford.

It breaks my heart seeing that footage or those GIFs as well... the video is still on youtube, I'm sure it has been posted in another thread before (from 2:48):

I read a few interviews, one from Rolling Stone and another from The NY Times tonight. She was about 25 or 26 in the interviews. They way her body language and actions are described, it broke my heart. She speaks of how she’d check the mail for years without hearting from her dad. How much she loved and needed him. How she tried to escape her sadness through various characters she’d invent or that she’d read about and try to become (Jem and Scout from to kill a Mockingbird”. At 17 she had what today would probably be described as a major depressive episode. In the interviews she talked about how she’d watch him in movies and read about in articles and interviews about how he’d talk about being bored by children, not liking them and liking dogs more. yet she spoke with nothing but love for her dad. She channeled it into acting. She said she was in a play 5 blocks from her father in NYC, and still never saw him. Poor dear. She’s 62 now and I hope at peace with her past. Perhaps somehow knowing she is and was loved- CP had demons as did she. Dang I actually am emotional about having read those old interviews. I heard they’ve since reconciled somewhat. But I love how her face is exactly his, and her voice exactly her mom’s.

I feel very badly for how she grew up. From reading and watching, I believe there is a degree of mental illness involved.

Very sad indeed to grow up that way. It makes me thankful for my childhood with 2 loving parents who have been married for 45 years.

As was mentioned in another thread. Amanda is now in a new series. I believe it’s a “Backstory” to Nurse Ratchet from one flew over the cuckoos nest. From what I saw she’s quite quirky and perfect for the very dark role. And on that note, I did find a small “Backstory” from when she was in a play a few years ago. There’s some mention at the end of the article of CP, which was just heartbreaking. You can see she may have inherited Dad’s temperament, though I believe other issues are there, again as has been discussed in other threads, possible mental illness, some of it seems to be even a sensory issue when you read the things that were upsetting her. Anyway, once more I wish I could give this woman a hug and tell her she’s amazing, and her own person. Yet another series I will have to take a peek at! nypost.com/2013/09/05/diva-amanda-plummer-a-nightmare-backstage/
