Hello all, I recently saw a post on tumblr by lionessofwindsor linking to Julie's singing instructor, Madame Lilian Stiles-Allen, a famous and wonderful opera singer in her own right, on a programme on the BBC radio called "Desert Island Discs" where the guest picks 8 songs, a book, and an item to bring with them if they were stranded on an island.

Doing some more digging, I found that Julie was also on the programme!
Unfortunately due to rights issues the music does not play in full-- so I've made this playlist of her choices on Spotify. If you like orchestral music in general, I recommend it. Rodeo is fantastic, and the Brahms violin concerto is really intense. It's also lovely to hear how she chose each piece. I don't believe she says anything in the programme that we haven't already heard or read in her autobiography but I just love hearing her speak and hearing the music she chose! Kind of surprised that her pieces tend toward the orchestral as opposed to the vocal. I just adore her and love being able to connect her to some favorite music.
