Julie's second memoir of her Hollywood years has just been published, 'Home Work'.
Has anyone read it yet? What did you think? Any good stuff on TSOM and YouKnowWho?!

I have bought the audio version and the book, but I haven't finished reading yet. I also attended one of her Q&A events last week. She was asked whom she would like to work with. She mentioned some names including CP, she said he was a very good friend of hers and he had expertise in Shakespeare.

She was on Stephen Colbert last week and talks a bit about Sound of Music, though I don't think it's anything new

I just got the book today and am halfway through. Nothing new or juicy about CP during TSOM. Mostly saying how she saw very little of him off the set and knew he was playing piano and enjoyed his drink in the evenings-but she does make him seem softer and focuses less on his arrogance and unhappiness. She even talks of how he’d encourage her to use more gusto and hold back less in acting (don’t be afraid to really give it to me during our argument). When I finish the book (perhaps tonight at the rate I’m going) I hope she will expand upon their friendship post TSOM.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5qF9XYv4c8An illuminating interview with Julie and her daughter, from when HomeWork was published. Julie is much more frank and insightful than usual about her career and upbringing in this thoughtful interview.

Great interview.
At about 20:15 is where they start talking about TSOM. Love that she described CP as delicious!
I know the host had his questions to ask, but I kept secretly wanting him to stop interrupting her and just let her talk about whatever she wanted to talk about. I could listen to her all day.

There is a little more SOM talk at 44:25.
Also, the blue top she is wearing reminds of Maria's infamous blue dress. I wonder if she wears this color often. It looks lovely with her hair and skin tone.

She and Emma seem to be very close. Didn't Julie and Blake adopt several younger children?

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about her husbands and children:
"Andrews married set designer Tony Walton on 10 May 1959 in Weybridge, Surrey. They first met in 1948 when Andrews was appearing at the London Casino in the show Humpty Dumpty. In November 1962, their daughter Emma (now Emma Walton Hamilton, an author of children's books), was born. They divorced in 1968.
Andrews subsequently married director Blake Edwards, who had been a companion for at least two years and had completed directing her part in Darling Lili, in November 1969, becoming stepmother to his children, Jennifer and Geoffrey. In the 1970s, Edwards and Andrews adopted two Vietnamese daughters, Amy (later known as Amelia) Leigh and Joanna Lynne. They were married for 41 years, until Edwards' death at the age of 88 on 15 December 2010 in Santa Monica, California. Andrews is a grandmother to nine and a great-grandmother to three."
If Blake was her "companion" for at least two years prior to their marriage in 1969 and she wasn't divorced until 1968, it seems like things with Tony were not going well for awhile. Showbiz has to be very hard on relationships.

If I recall correctly, there was so much pressure created by her enormous fame - and time spent apart - that although they remained good friends, they just couldn't sustain a marriage.

So were both Julie and Chris in shaky marriages during the filming of TSOM?
And didn't Eleanor Parker have a cameraman as a boyfriend?

Yes, and I think Saul Chaplin met his wife, Betty Levin, on the set.
