In case you are ready for a new fanfic, I have just posted 'Moonlight on the Orangery' on Fan Fiction.net.
It covers what might have happened if Maria had decided not to go back to the Abbey...enjoy!

I'm ready! I don't know how I missed this one. I love it! Your writing and imagery are fabulous! How did you come up with the idea for this? I'm so happy that Maria does not have to go through the heartbreak of everything that happens after she leaves the villa. I'm glad that there is a private place that they can talk during the party to sort out what happened between them (that would have solved a lot of problems had it happened in the movie!). I can picture how gently he is talking to her when he first arrives at the orangery, kind of similar to when he approaches her in the gazebo scene in the movie. He doesn't want to scare her away, but he wants to know why she didn't show up. What happened between Elsa and Georg that it is already decided that she is leaving? That had to be quite an awkward conversation during a party to announce them as a couple! I like that he uses the children needing her to help convince her to stay because he knows she loves spending time with them. Then, the frauline-less Maria and the pleading to stay finally win her over. It's lovely and romantic. I'm glad they want to dance with each other again. I hope they kiss at the end of this one! More stories please!

I suppose I have often wanted to know what Georg was thinking when Maria didn't turn up at dinner - there would have been lots of questions from guests relating to the empty place, and he would have been embarrassed/disappointed/perhaps piqued when she didn't arrive. At some point he would have wanted to ask her why not, perhaps becoming a burning question if she had remained in the house. So then they needed somewhere to have that private conversation, somewhere that almost encouraged them to talk because it was such an atmospheric and romantic place. I dreamed up the Orangery as somewhere for her to have a reason to be, and then Georg walked in....
He has a particular style of conversing, I kept hearing his words at the top of the steps when Maria returned from the Abbey, "You left without saying goodbye, even to the children...why did you?", and it seemed to repeat itself. In my mind, Georg just got cold feet about his relationship with Elsa whilst he sat through dinner, and being decisive, decided he wouldn't invite her back. As they say, all's fair in love and war!
There are some more stories I have written on FanFic.net if you look under my author name, Indigobluewriter. Hope you like them.

"All's Fair in Love and War", reminds me of this song I put in a playlist for both my future Wedding and that applies to The Sound of Music quite well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cgAdenL4Gg

It's always fun to find another ELP fan. This is a great song. I hadn't heard it before...I mostly listen to the old stuff. They don't really connect to TSOM but, "From The Beginning" and "Still, You Turn Me On" are my favorite ELP songs. They are worth a listen if you haven't heard them before.

I was R A I S E D, on ELP by my parents. I would love to send you a good chunk of ELP, LOL. I'm 19, and they're still a group I adore. I plan on having their logo tattooed on my chest someday.

Thanks for the offer, but I do not have a Tumblr. I'm not even exactly sure what that is. Most of my music is on vinyl. I'm glad ELP is still connecting with the younger generations though!

I got it for my graduation gift and everyone that attended signed it. Tumblr.com is just another social media site. It has instant messaging and stuff. Attachments:

I sort of missed this story of yours because it doesn't have the 'complete' label - indigoblue are you planning on continuing it at some point by any chance? (Please say yes although I have a feeling the answer to that is actually no; the story feels finished somehow, as much as I'd love to read more of this) - but I now finally read it and enjoyed it so much! Here's to hoping to a continuation.

Thank you so much for the lovely reviews; I get so little time to write (and none to read) that it is all I can do to write short pieces, so I'm afraid that's all for now - until the next time!
There are other short stories I have written on Fanfic, which you might enjoy if you click on 'Author'...

reverendcaptain and Laurynvi, I have at last finished the story you asked for a the beginning of the year, about what would happen if the Captain asked Maria to go back to the Abbey because he found her too much of a distraction after he got engaged to Elsa. I wanted to provide a link here so you could get a sneak preview, but it didn't seem to work. So I have put it up on Fanfic.net as The Unexpected Return. Enjoy!

I loved it! I left a review on ff.net, but I want to talk about it here too! I would love to have been a fly on the wall for the conversation on how Elsa convinced Georg that Maria needed to go. And again in Vienna on why things turned south so quickly. The coat closet! I can picture it so clearly. You can if you want to! Yes, she wants to Georg!! Loved it!

Thank you for your wonderful reviews: it is so lovely when readers notice and appreciate turns of phrase which may have taken me quite a while to hone down so they have the right effect! I write when I am in the mood late at night, and sometimes I go to bed but find words or scenes still buzzing around in my head, and often just changing round the word order, or dropping in another connection to link one scene to another makes it all come together. Then it is so gratifying to know you have enjoyed the intrigue (in my mind as much as in the story)!

augiesannie, about 18 months ago you posed the question of what had happened in Vienna to make Georg think twice about Elsa (even though he had already invited her to the villa). At last I have finished my ideas of what happened, and have posted it on Fanfiction.net (First chapter of two). I have tried to find the original post to put this message there - without success! So if you find it, let me know!

Love the story, Indigo. I'm going to post my thoughts about it in the "Elsa and Georg, redux" thread.
