Hey guys! I am struggling with the next chapter of My Maria, and I haven't a clue as to why.
For those of you that have read it, do you have any suggestions or ideas? Any at all? I had it half way written and then decided it didn't seem right and deleted it. I've been binge-reading SoM fics (my favorite thing to do) and that hasn't helped spark any inspiration.
So if you have any ideas, I'd be thankful to hear them (well read bc I'm on the computer lol).

But I think you may like it even though it is more intense and out of character. |

After two long years, chapter six has FINALLY been posted. It isn't my best work, not by a long shot. It is more-or-less a filler piece that isn't too important to the story. The seventh chapter will be the ending to this lovely story. As always, I have no update schedule, so I cannot give y'all a specific date for when the epilogue will be posted. I can, however, promise you that I won't take another two years to update.
I hope that you all will enjoy the second to the last chapter of My Maria!!

Hey y'all! I am in need of help researching! I am trying to get some ideas for the wedding in My Maria, but have been unsuccessful in my search for facts and such. I want to have some elements of a typical Austrian wedding during the time period that TSOM is set in, in addition to my own added elements. If that made sense?
Any help is appreciated!

well, I googled austrian wedding traditions which obviously you didn't need me for, and I didn't see anything that looked very M&G-ish. Kidnapping the bride? nope. Auctioning off one of her shoes? nope. We'll need to keep looking!

well, I googled austrian wedding traditions which obviously you didn't need me for, and I didn't see anything that looked very M&G-ish. Kidnapping the bride? nope. Auctioning off one of her shoes? nope. We'll need to keep looking! When I Googled it, I came across the kidnapping thing too. There's a snowballs chance in heck that Georg would let that happen. Although, if it were Hede or Max, then maybe. Even then it is a slim chance. I was thinking about my parent's wedding back in '98. My dad was married previously and has remained friends with his ex-wife since their divorce and eventually, my mom became his ex-wife's best friend. When my mom and dad got married, my mom wore the wedding dress that my dad's ex-wife wore. Kind of weird, I know (if I knew how to post pictures on here, I would share a picture). It got me thinking, we know most brides have the something old, something borrowed, something blue, something new. What if for something old or borrowed, Maria used something of Agathe's? Agathe was and still is a big part of the Von Trapp family, what a better way to honor her? The question is, what would the item be and what is it's significance? For those of you who are married or are getting married, what traditions did you follow? Did you create new ones? |

Georg might have used Agathe's engagement or wedding ring again, especially if it was 'wartime', assuming Maria was happy with that.

That would make sense. I think that Maria would be okay with using Agathe's ring. The issue is that the aristocratic circle they're a part of, might think it is a little weird and maybe disapprove of them using the ring? Do you think that it's possible that Georg could have remade Agathe's ring into a new one for Maria?

I dunno. No matter how at peace I felt about my husband’s dead first wife, I’d want my own ring. His mother’s ring maybe, but not his wife’s. I could imagine her using and getting pleasure out of household items - linens, silver, porcelain - but the ring is not for me! Silver-White-Winters I really enjoyed your story about your parents’ wedding! My own wedding was so long ago I hardly remember it! |

Silver-White-Winters I really enjoyed your story about your parents’ wedding! My own wedding was so long ago I hardly remember it! I am glad you enjoyed it! Straying slightly from the topic of weddings, they're celebrating 25 years this year!! There's been a lot of things that could have torn them apart, but they've managed to stay strong. You don't really see that that often anymore. When my grandparents (my mom's parents) got married, in 1950, they got married by a justice of the peace. According to what I remember my mom telling me, they didn't wear a suit and wedding dress (I'm having my mom ask my grandma to double check). I do have a picture from the early 50's of them acting adorably, my grandpa holding my grandma bridal style. They were married for I believe 52 years when he died in 2002. If he were alive today, they'd have been married for roughly 73 years. I wanted to use some of their wedding stuff as inspiration, but unfortunately, didn't get very much. |

I have finally found the inspiration after randomly googling something along the lines of "German Wedding Vows". I found this website that gave me an idea that I am going to try out. It might be a bit out of character (or a lot, I don't know), but it was interesting. If you want to take a look at the article, I can either post the link or send it via message. However, before I start to write any scenes relating to the wedding, I would like your opinion on either the article I found, or, what you want to see in Maria & Georg's wedding.

So.... after a really long time since the last update, I will be posting the last chapter of this story soon. It is a K+/T rated chapter and written better than the first six chapters. At some point, when life isn't so busy, I might go back and rewrite the first six chapters. They were a little too... wonky? Haha I think that's the right word. Anyway, I am just finishing up with the chapter and editing a few things and then it'll be posted, so stay tuned!!!
