I love this. I wish there were not copyright watermarks on it.
He looks a little intense to me. Like someone is saying something he doesn't like and she has her hand on his arm as if to say - relax honey, don't get upset about this.

I seem to remember that these were publicity shots taken sometime after the film was released (and why he suddenly has a suntan). I always think that in most of these particular shots, they both look remarkably happy and relaxed together (I think those famous ones of them sitting in the garden so close they are touching are from the same time).
However, in this photo, I agree he looks a little alarmed; maybe he is annoyed that his 'least favourite film' is so popular and the one which will make his name, and with which he will be forever associated (and adored!)

I like this because usually you see HIM touching HER. But here it’s the other way around. And with the Dark Captain look on his face, it makes you think about how he needs Maria to ground him with her touch.

Beautiful picture. He does look intense. It looks like she is trying to calm him with her hand on his arm and I like the look on her face.
