Hi, one of your long lost users here. I thought of this recently, how come there isn't a Julie biopic yet? You know, those biographical movies reenacting a person's life. Maybe people have approached her with this idea but she didn't consent.
If there was one to be made, who would you want to cast as Julie? Better yet, who would you cast as kid Julie, teenage/young adult Julie, adult Julie, etc etc? Would you want the actor to be able to sing/mimic her singing voice or lip sync to her voice?

I have mixed opinions about this topic. It would be great to have a biopic about Julie as a tribute of sorts, but no actress would be able to match Julie's energy, voice, etc, because only Julie can do that! Especially the voice... Anyway, I would want to watch a documentary more than a biopic. I feel like that if a documentary was made instead of a biopic, they would be able to preserve Julie's voice, legacy and so on better. I would prefer that they used clips of Julie rather than an actress playing Julie, because it's actually Julie being Julie, not another actress "being" her. If anyone is interested, there is already a documentary about Julie (Julie, 1972, directed by Blake Edwards, link) but it's about the making of The Julie Andrews Hour, not about her life.

Welcome back, BlueSatinSashes!
I agree with Crispapplestrudels, Julie has such style and charisma that anyone else would seem a damp squib playing her; and that voice has such veuve, nothing can approach it. But a documentary would certainly do the trick...

I learn so many new words and phrases from this forum. I thought "damp squib" was a Harry Potter reference. haha. It turns out that it means a disappointment after much anticipation.

Interesting points there, I never thought of that!
Of course, no matter how the actress acts it out, it'll never truly represent Julie in her most authentic self.

I was just thinking - they recently released a new Audrey Hepburn documentary last year (gosh, it's so weird to be saying that), and it was partially narrated by Audrey herself (they acquired the audio clippings from her many, many interviews), and of course, there were interviews from her son and from others as well. Now, I'm actually quite curious if they would do something like this for Julie, especially given that Julie could narrate her own documentary, or if they think it would be too redundant since she already has her two autobiographies, or would they do the same thing as they did with Audrey (just archive footage)? Well, actually, since Julie is such a big personality and because she has the two books, I have a feeling that they would make a biopic of her, even if it won't end up so... nicely.
