Do you think that there were any similarities between these two women? I’m thinking of writing a fanfic on this concept but I need some inspiration. In my mind, Maria and Agathe were two very different people: Agathe would've been very classy and worldly while Maria was the total opposite i.e. fresh, innocent, inexperienced etc. I feel like Georg fell in love with Maria BECAUSE she was so different from Agathe but I honestly don't know.
Let me know what you all think❤️

Let me know what you all think❤️ This is an interesting thing to delve into!! Hmm, I haven't thought of it much, but I think that they have a lot of traits in common, but somehow manifested differently (?) I think that the difference is mostly caused by the contrast in their upbringing and backgrounds. Anyways, I'd like to think that they're both kind and compassionate, and also very motherly (though in different aspects). I would think that Agathe was a very hands-on mother, and it's good to note that she probably went through multiple pregnancies and took care of the children on her own as G was at sea most of the time. I'd also think that Agathe would be strong willed and courageous (like Maria). Having a husband like G is, frankly, not easy, he's challenging and also strong willed, but I don't think that Agathe is someone who would just stand to the side and let him do his thing. As I said, she raised their children on her own while he was at sea. It takes a lot of guts and pain swallowing to get through those times, too! And before I forget—Agathe also loved music, because why else would Georg shut music out if she didn't enjoy it? Eek, I'm not quite sure if I'm still making any sense, so I'll stop here. Though this wasn't accurate, I hope it helped you to see a different perspective on things : )

I like to imagine Agathe as being similar to Maria in her mischief and exuberance. I think she took her role as Baroness von Trapp seriously, but she wasn’t afraid of putting her status aside and being playful and affectionate with her children. I also think she was a very humble person, probably not wanting nannies or governesses for the children (which obviously changed after her death). There’s a AU fic by imnotacommittee on FF that shows Agathe as that type of mother and person called ‘By The Fountain’, maybe you could draw some inspiration from it!
