I think this probably belongs in the "writing" section more than "artwork"... but then it also didn't.  There was a thread on the general discussion board about other fandoms, and I remembered that once upon a time, one of the fandoms I was a part of would make "covers" or "posters" for the stories that were being written. I had loved this creative element, learned to used photoshop, and eventually started making fanart outside of these story covers. It's been years and I've since switched operating systems, so none of my collection of photoshop tools transferred... but DH was busy tonight and I was suddenly inspired to play around.  (Story art for two of the stories I've written... would have LOVED to dive into the wealth of stories on FF, but didn't want to unless explicitly invited haha)   |

I've never learned how to use Photoshop. I've always been in awe of people who use it and have products that look so beautiful. I've tried different apps to try to get a desired outcome but they never really looked as pretty as these ones! Also, I know that there's a book cover option on FF. Maybe consider putting these there? š„ŗ |

These are beautiful laurynvi! And they are having some sort of effect because I instantly went back and dipped into your wonderful stories again. Itās genius the way you found images that fit with your AU plots. I donāt know how to use photoshop but I used to enjoy choosing ācoversā for my stories that were specific to the content (Eiffel Tower for honeymoon etc) . If I recall correctly, I stopped because there was a limit on the number of images you could keep active and at one time I wrote a lot of stories! |

Itās helpful that there are so many wonderful SOM photos to choose from - any activity where I get to search through copious JA and CP photos is a win, in my books š Iāve only tried to upload photos to FF once - and it randomly disappeared a few months later, and I havenāt tried since! Iām going to give it another try! |

I just love it when people take SOM material just one step further to create something new to tease the imagination: too far, and it becomes unbelievable, but these are just lovely. Thanks Laurynvi!

@lauryvi how do you do this? I know you said photoshop, but I've never been able to do anything close to this in photoshop. These are amazing!! Thank you! Iām self taught, so I donāt have any formal insight to share - but I basically take the pictures I want to use, and blend and layer like crazy until I like the look. Iām also big on using ātexturesā (a picture that lies over the whole image) to help blend and achieve cohesion (eg. in the Northern star one I used a photo of a sunset, in Blue I use a swath of organza) and lots of negative space via the eraser tool. If you use Photoshop Iād be happy to give you a more detailed breakdown - send me a PM! |

It says on FFN that 'There is a maximum limit of images allowed equal to 10 + Number of Stories Published.' So as long as you don't have more than ten images sitting there for no real reason, you could have a unique image for every story. I have a different one for each of my stories, and one for my profile image, so I could upload nine more photos before it wouldn't let me upload any more until I wrote another story. Not trying to push you back into using images if you don't want to, just letting you know. |
