I always like looking at them, partly because at that stage, none of them had ANY idea what an enormous phenomenon TSOM would become; here we are, 55 years later, eager for any incy wincy, disgusting detail...
Julie in particular, looks gorgeous and rather wide-eyed. CP and EP, by contrast, have been here before countless times, but they too had no idea about what they are about to embark upon. It feels odd knowing 'the future'!

Your comment makes me think of how they all started to sense something was up toward the end of filming when reporters started to show up on set more often. As I recall CP was pretty starry eyed about it too. |

At least 40, I should think.
It's interesting, because at that age she may well be past having any children, which may please her (I am assuming she hasn't got any of her own). So the prospect of acquiring 7 children probably filled her with horror...enough to reevaluate marrying Georg?
Maybe that was the REAL reason she broke off the relationship!

I suppose it is possible that she is there for precisely the opposite reason, that it is her only chance of acquiring children at her age!
But somehow her body language etc doesn't seem to fit with this, and the small matter of 'Bowarding Skewel', as she says it...

It was probably a contributing factor, once she realized that the kids were actually going to be in the picture. Going into this trip, I imagine her thinking that the kids would be at boarding school the vast majority of the time, and that they would not have much impact on her/Georg's life. Now that he's "father of the year", maybe it was at least easier to let him go. Though, I still think she was holding on to her fantasy of marrying him and shipping the kids off until the balcony scene. Your post on her going for Georg for the intention of having kids made me laugh. You are the master of throwing out completely upside down theories on this board. They are fun to think about. |
