Hey peeps! So I have a question for y'all. Do any of you have a Wattpad? I am currently working on a original story titled, "Their Second Chance"
I am hoping to have it posted (or at least some of it) by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. Working on this and being married to my job is why I haven't been too active on FF Net lately. Anyway.
Reason I am writing this story: I am a lover and consider myself a connoisseur of Hallmark/Lifetime romance films. I have noticed that with the vast majority of romance films (that I have watched), that most of the couples/characters are younger and usually between the ages of their 20's and 30's. I want more romance films and books that have older couples in them; older couples that are in their 40's or older. You know, the later in life type of love. So, I decided to make an attempt at writing one.
Basic info on the main couple: The main characters, Vannah and Asher, have a small age gap of roughly 10 years. In the story, Vannah is 49 (turning 50) and Asher is 59 turning 60). Vannah is a Marine veteran who served 2 tours (locations to be determined - still doing some research) and was honorably discharged (and retired) due to injuries. She has 5 kids that are between the ages of 31-15 (the eldest 2 are twins - she had them young). She is divorced and owns a small farm. Asher is a History teacher at the local high school and has one kid who is 16 (he was in a relationship with an 18 year age gap with his kid's mother).
A little snippet from the middle of the book: I pulled myself out of the flashback when I heard a knock on the screen door. Asher was here for our weekly date night. Since we began dating six months ago, we made it a priority to have at least one free night where we could have some alone time. Between me trying to run the farm and Asher being busy with his work as a high school History teacher, we had our hands full. I looked forward to these nights and the intimacy we shared- whether it be sexual or not.
However, tonight? Not so much because I am terrified. I am terrified of rejection, verbal abuse, and even though I highly doubt he would do it, push and shove me around like Gideon did.
I forgot to mention, these are the main character's full names: Vannah Alexandra St. Claire (married name was Knight, then she got divorced) & Asher Flynn Valentine (his middle name is subject to change - suggestions are welcomed if you have a middle name that flows more nicely with his whole name. if that makes sense?).
Some things in the book might be out of the box or considered unconventional, but that is the beauty of fictional stories. You can write whatever you want, however you want.

Also, if you like the film, 'The Post' I am writing a fanfic on that and another Mamma Mia fic. In all honestly, my muse is everywhere and doesn't wanna focus on a specific story (which stinks bc I wanna update My Maria & Baby Makes Three).
