I will be cheating and not watch the Japanese language version. Turns out the Austrians have made a German version of it, I’ll be watching ASAP. Entire show in (Austrian) German in YouTube. 4 or 5 Epsiodes into it, it’s a weird mix between the original Trapp movie and TSOM. Maria is drawn, dressed and behaves like Andrew’s Maria. The Captain is not at all like Plummer. Some scenes/ setups are absolutely copied from TSOM. little Maria and big Maria confuses me constantly. Dunno where they pulled Baroness Mathilde from, but every story needs to have an antogonist, right?! The cook! Wow. Definitely Japanese. And everything reminds me of Heidi and Sindbad and Kimba. The kiddy shows I used to watch on Saturday afternoon when I was little.

Big Maria and little Maria is why they changed her name (was it Liesl? I can't remember) Baroness Mathilde was a real person, in Maria's book.

Off the top of my head, Liesl = Agathe (since the eldest daughter was named after her mother).
