I love this. I wish the article would have detailed all of his outfits in this same way. And Maria's too. Their clothes and accessories do say a lot about their personalities.

Max almost looks like a professor if you don't know who he is. The bow tie is an interesting choice. Georg looks very military, even in his posture.

Yes, to me a bow tie reads nerdy (professorish) or possibly pediatricianish, but maybe it coded another way in the 30s.
