FINALLY..... real progress is being made on my Buttons 2 Epilogue.... and now I need some help from you English speaking ladies (and others with great ideas), but it's a question about what Georg would say in a situation.... I have no idea myself other than modern words/slang.... okay first of... you get a sneak peak of a small part of the Epilogue...
SCENE: They are eating breakfast on the train, bound for home, Maria is daydreaming about their various "private" adventures on their honeymoon... Georg "catches" her in the act, so to speek... this is where we enter:
-------------------------------------------
-“So, Darling, whatever has captivated your mind so much that you seem to have forgotten the world around you?” Georg asked with amusement in his voice.
Maria shook her head in disbelief over his bluntness, but then she pulled her hand away from his and rearranged her napkin next to her plate then looked as innocent as she could up at him again, and said in a sweet voice: “I have no idea whatever it is you’re talking about, my darling. I was merely enjoying the wonderful view of… of…” she cast a quick glance out of the window, she had absolutely no idea where they were, but all she saw was trees in autumn colours, “… of the wonderful coloured trees.” She waved her hand out towards the scenery to underline her explanation.
-“Hmpf… the scenery? I bet…(??)” Georg huffed in feigned indignation; he found it rather difficult not to just laugh out loud. He was amazed how much Maria had grown into her role as a wife and lover. Georg knew that she was quite the observant type and that she could now read him like and open book. And when she pulled of a “lie” like this he was filled with even more gratitude for having met her.
Maria just continued to smile sweetly at him, while her inside filled with more and more laughter that was getting more and more difficult to hide.
------------------------------------------------
As you can see it is Georg's respons to her "lie"... all I can think of myself is something like "i bet you are".... "yarh right" (WAY tooo modern!!!!)
That's all I can think of... hope someone have some helpful tips here.... Thanks
