So... the list of 50 words was a great success, even if we didn't finish the entire list. We will definitely have to do that again! But for this month, I'm just going to list the remaining words and a couple other prompts. Let's see if we can combine our creativity with our holiday spirit and come up with something amazing. Aaand go! NOVEMBER WORDS: (check out this list!! how did these words get unused last month?! they practically scream 'the sound of music'!!) - one
- command
- picture
- child
- hide
- fortune
- eye
- never
- sing
- time
- wash
- power
- God
- drive
IDEA PROMPT:Write a Christmas or New Year scene/story. FIRST LINE PROMPT:
"It was their first Christmas and he wanted to give her something special." (or she wanted to give him something special... writer's choice)

"How ironic it is," he said to her, with a bitter laugh, "that I was able to smuggle my fortune out of Austria with little difficulty, but I cannot assure my family safe passage."

Secretly, she wished for a child of their own - but she said nothing to him, feeling like she could not possibly explain that she loved his children no less for it.

George realized at that moment that there was one woman who held his heart, and it wasn't Elsa.
When she heard "I am placing you in command ," she was sure he was mad as a hatter.
Maria found it both sad and strange that there was not a single picture of the children's mother anywhere in the house.
Louisa was the child who looked most like her mother, yet her personality was just like her father's.
Maria had trusted that God would in time reveal his plan for her, and now she was looking into that plan's clear, blue eyes.

Standing there on the steps, she bravely stared them down, vowing to hide her true feelings about the devastating news of their engagement.

Ok, I'm going to give these word prompts a try...
As Maria ran up the green hills, she had an uncontrollable urge to SING at the top of her lungs.
TIME seemed to stand still as he leaned into kiss her for the very first time.

"When a man is given one lifetime of love and happiness, he begins to believe in himself," Georg explained to Max, then turning to watch Maria play with the children, "When he's given a second lifetime, he begins to believe in God."

yes, really.
I think maybe because in relation to Georg, in my mind I'm always Maria. And hearing him say that about "me", wow. Does that make any sense outside of my own warped brain?

I liked it because my G doesn't say personal things like that very often (he feels them, but, you know, he's buttoned up). So when he does, they are intense and meaningful and powerful.

"The harsh reality, Captain, is that you can dress your children in uniforms, make them march and answer to whistles, but you cannot command them to understand you, to feel or to love you," Maria said, forcing the emotions down until she said her piece. "When I requested help from the Abbey, I pictured an ancient, unsmiling wall of a woman that not only understood discipline, but had probably helped God write the definition," he laughed.

She knew what love was in theory, but the experience of it was foreign because when she was a child, love was just another four letter word.
(there's something not right about that one, but i can't figure it out at the moment... i'll cringe later.)
In the beginning Georg assumed Maria just didn't understand how much it hurt to lose someone you love, but as he learned more about her he discovered she was just much better at hiding it than he was.

Maria always wondered why people closed their eyes when they kissed until she realized every nerve and muscle in her body would overload if she didn't.

She never dreamt of being with a man, who held such great power over her, but immediately realized that he had, and she found she had to break their kiss and step out of his arms before things could escalate.
