Maria-Captain love story will not be perfect without Elsa who let Georg follow his heart. She'll be remembered forever. One of the best Baroness I've watched.

"Eleanor Parker was and is one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever known," said Plummer in a statement. “Both as a person and as a beauty. I hardly believe the sad news for I was sure she was enchanted and would live forever.”

I never realised she was so much older than Chris He had made comments at the time about how much older she was than he, and he had concerns about how it would play onscreen. But his statement today was wonderful.

I never realised she was so much older than Chris He had made comments at the time about how much older she was than he, and he had concerns about how it would play onscreen. But his statement today was wonderful. It certainly was. And to me the age difference difference didn't show onscreen (after all he was meant to be playing a character much older), so rather than make Elsa look too much older I think it seemed to balance them

I agree. It wasn't an issue, and it wasn't obvious.

As the president of the Baroness Fan Club, I propose a week of sombre mourning for the passing of one cool lady.
I would like to post a link here for a video on You tube that highlights her loveliness, but my computer is clearly feeling severely bereaved and will not perform; however, you may see it yourself under the title 'The Baroness' Song', or if anyone else's computer is feeling a little less curmudgeonly, you might try posting the link yourselves for us to enjoy.
Now, off to find my black clothes...

Quote from JA: "Eleanor was a charming, elegant and beautiful lady. It was an honor to know her and a pleasure to work with her. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be remembered as one of the legends of Hollywood," Andrews said, as quoted by Wenn. Read more: www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00066560.html#ixzz2na1zULPb

Oops, nearly forgot the two-yearly anniversary of our dear Baroness...RIP, darling. This is also a convenient time to point out to all our new members the Baroness Fan Club; there may be a few of them who wish to declare their hands in what is not a popular subject, in order to prevent the club membership sinking ever lower. We may have to consider lowering the subscription rate in order to attract members if insufficient numbers join up...so come on, ladies and gentlemen! Indigoblue, President

She was amazing as Elsa. Currently in the middle of writing a story from Elsa's perspective I see it so much.

Oops! Not familiar with her...the image was tacked next to one of Eleanor Parker in her younger years on her Google Image page, so I assumed it was her in her dotage. Sorry!

Esther Williams was an actress and a synchronize swimmer. She did a lot of movies where she actually swam in them. Quite fun to watch actually, but I could see how you might have gotten confused.

Do you think Esther Williams held up Elsa/Eleanor Parker as a role model/wannabe?

Do you think Esther Williams held up Elsa/Eleanor Parker as a role model/wannabe? Totally different types of actresses. I doubt that would be the case very much.

I don't think so at all. For starters they were the same age (Williams was a year older) and like lemacd said, they did completely different types of films. Esther Williams had her own very distinct accomplishments. She was a very competitive and well known swimmer. Quite a few of her films were centered around her strengths in that area. They were both unique and special in their own ways. Interestingly enough, they both died the same year, 2013.
