I was just reading a post on another thread and someone mention something about memorabilia, and I thought it might be cool to talk about our TSOM memorabilia. (Feel free to yell at me if this topic has started somewhere else). Anyway, I have:
1. The 40th Anniversary 2-disc Edition DVD 2. The 40th Anniversary Special Edition CD 3. The Original Soundtrack on vinyl 4. The 'Barbie as Maria from The Sound of Music' Barbie doll 5. The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook 6. The Sound of Music Movie Poster
I also used to have the movie on VCR but I gave it to my cousins when I bought the DVD.
So, what about you guys?

Good idea. Maybe someone could move our discussions from the past few days into this thread?
I also have some of what you listed. I'm jealous you have the barbie doll!
I also have the Maria on the mountain commemorative plate (I'll get a photo sometime and post it) and The Sound of Music: The Making of America's Favorite Movie book

I saw this commemorative collection for sale the other day on the jb hifi website and I really had to refrain from buying it (as it was around $65). I think I'll wait until next year for the 50th anniversary editions to come out before I go wild (but I did go and buy the Toothfairy on DVD today!)

I'm not sure how you do that though

I'm glad you got Tooth Fairy because it is (as you will have seen after watching it) very funny. And she makes it so much better. (Doesn't she always?)

I actually didn't set out to get it. I was at the shops getting a present for a birthday party we are going to tomorrow and I saw the DVD and it just "somehow" made its way into my shopping basket (I just don't know how that happened .

the only noteworthy memorabilia that i have... and yes, tears are starting to form in my eyes... were misplaced at some point in my life. i started collecting those decorative plates when i was in junior high school. my mother gave me two TSOM plates; do-re-mi and my favorite things. i actually found one image that had both plates in it... i would like them all, of course, but the laendler would probably be my next acquisition if i had the time to find it and money to buy it. i have a feeling that my plates are either in my attic or in my father's basement. the problem is that i don't know.

Ooo, they're great!!! I hope you find them. It is horrible when you can't find something. I can't find my program from Victor/Victoria on Broadway (since I wasn't allowed to fly to New York to see it, my dad bought all the merchandise for me - that's when I got my V/V mug and I have the poster framed. I'm hoping the program is at Mum and Dad's place.)

Oh, dear, I'm afraid I'm going to sound like a nutcase. Although I don't have any plates, or a Barbie, that's still ahead for me.
I have: the SOM scrapbook, the Hirsch "making of" book, the Maslon companion book, a storybook that I think came with the LP, the Wilk "making of" book, the original "story of the Trapp family singers" book, Forever Liesl, several different copies of the script, the play libretto, the 40th CD (it might be the 45th, but it's in the car right now) and both the 40th and 45th DVDs. Well, I spent a lot of time on eBay, and most of this was acquired before I found the rest of you to scratch my itch. If you come visit me, I'll show it all to you.
These things are often findable for little money. The set pictured above, which I don't have (I only have the DVDs) and is pricey, often goes on sale on Amazon for very little.
Oh! and I forgot that I have that monograph on the screenplay, I've got to post some bits from that again sometime.

i looked up the plates on amazon. prices aren't too bad, actually. the thing that kills me is that there are some 'new' and some 'used'... i just wonder what 'used' means.

good question, but why do you care, you're not going to eat off of them, are you? (just check for lingering traces of schnitzel, strudel and jam with bread.

i suppose if you can't tell it was used, it's not a problem. but who wants to do business with someone that would eat off julie andrew's face?

maybe they mean "used," like "already displayed on my grandmother's dining room wall, and now that she's gone, we're selling her stuff used."

i'm sure that is what they mean. that and "by the way, she had a rocking chair on the porch.. know anyone that would be interested?"

of course this, plus the FB discussion of mquest's christmas village, sent me over to ebay where I found this, undoubtedly the weirdest thing I've seen - TSOM hand puppets? and this one, which is the most pathetic, it's signed by the Rolf actor and the person wants like $75 for it:

those hand puppets are the stuff nightmares are made of... do you think that one in the middle is the baroness? and the second one? i suppose someone might was a picture of rolfe's butt. i think we all know where i stand on all matter's related to rolfe.

So I was at my parents place today and not only did I finally find my Victor/Victoria program that I thought I'd lost (pumping the air and doing a little dance I was so excited) but I also found my autographed photo of Julie that she sent my dad and me while she was on Broadway (I'd sent fan mail). I took a photo for your viewing pleasure!!

I was thinking how on another thread we were talking about the wedding rings in the film and I thought, just for the heck of it I thought I'd say the Barbie even had her own little ring (even though she's dressed in the rowboat costume and it doesn't look anything like the one from the movie.) It's also removable and then she's got a gigantic hole in her finger.

that is odd that she would have a ring, except that i think all barbies are fitted to wear a ring. i don't know for sure, it's been a long time since i've held a barbie or even owned one. honest, i think you could double your lifetime gothicbutterfly95 and... ugh, i'm old. maybe they just assume that if you play with the maria doll you'd eventually have her marry the captain. just preparing barbie for her destiny.

The Barbies we have only have a ring 'hole' if they come with one at purchase. Otherwise, no bling for her!
As for old....... yeah. Here. Old.

I know ALL about Barbies as I once had an impressive collection (about 25 years ago. Old thing happening here too) and I do have 2 daughters. I seem to remember the Barbies when I was little had ring holes (although not all of them) but the Barbies my daughters have don't but maybe it's just the ones we have. We have at least one that has earrings and earring holes and then there are several that even have detachable heads!! (Really, it's true!)

We had original Barbie dolls (I was three when she was born) that had heavily tatooed eyeliner. I don't remember any ring holes - the above made me LOL - but she did have firm, moutainous breasts that looked like the cone-shaped tops of rocket ships. Very 1950s. Not sure she's still got a pair like that, maybe.

But, I AM GOING to buy the 50th Anniversary editions... Without a doubt, I'm going to buy those..., SHOULD BE marvellous!!!! SO jealous you have the Barbie Doll, gothicbutterfly, where did you found it? Also, I can't find the ORIGINAL movie poster, can any of you tell me where can I find it?? If so, I'll be so grateful...
