I think we'd decided that was a costume check of some sort, before they decided Elsa needed torpedo boobs to fill out her costumes. I remember a discussion of this a while back when we compared her look here to Donna Reed or something.

So here is a pic that I found. It must be a publicity shot or costume setup shot as the background is different. The children's hair styles are also a bit different and the Captain is unbuttoned (jacket that is)  |

The one with the children does look like some sort of posed costume check. Love the stance he's got.
I like the new mountaintop photo you found, too. Because what's not to like? Unbuttoned, hip swaying Captain.

@indigoblue, I was just thinking the same thing. In fact I only 'just' put down my copy of TSOM making of book as I was looking it up. The bottom shot (the one we have seen before) is in that book and I had always thought that it was just one of those 'casual' shots of the actors hanging out on location. It was only when I saw the first photo that I posted (the one with Wise in it as well) that it clicked to me that both Julie and Chris are wearing their festival costumes. I don't think I had ever worked it out before as both Julie and Chris have their jackets off (oh and Chris is unbuttoned... sigh...).
Looking at the first shot (with Wise) Julie's shoes are wrong as she wears dark ones at the festival and when they are walking over the mountains at the end. However in the aerial shot of them walking over the mountains I think she might have the light coloured shoes on. I tired to watch it about 5-6 times yesterday to work it out but the shot is too far away to know for certain.

Of course, Elsa is wearing the wrong dress in the puppet show picture.... They all are wearing the wrong clothes - they are in the outfits from when they first arrive at the villa from Vienna just before the row boat scene. |
