I've had a rough day..lost someone dear to my heart this morning to cancer. I needed to see something happy. Thank you. I'm very sorry for your loss, clarinetjamie. I had a rough day yesterday as well. I accompanied a good friend of mine to have a colonoscopy and the result was neoplasm of cecum. The doctor ordered an immediate CAT scan and he'll have an operation this month. I'll pray for your dear one and my friend. Here's something nice for you.

Thanks all, she was wonderful person who loved kids and had a summer program that I grew up in and later on became a leader in. I've never met someone with such a huge capacity to love. I know she is at peace and rest now and that I'm grateful for. Sandra I hope everything is successful with the operation.

it's always been so amazing to me how people on this group stand by each other through difficult times. We're coming upon our third (!) anniversary and it means so much to me to think of how this started when I was distracting myself during very dark times and now look at all the friends we've made! Glad clarinetjamie and sandra shared with us.

Glad clarinetjamie and sandra shared with us. And I'm soooo glad I found this lovely place, so full of good and caring people and their honest support! It means more to me than you know, quoting our wonderful Captain. Thank you so much! And I have good news! The results of the CAT scan show that my friend has no metastasis. The tumour is so localized that he's likely to be operated through laparoscopy. He'll need some chemo afterwards, but not too much. When he told us this afternoon we were SOOOOO happy! I couldn't wait to tell you, but it's been one messy day. Once again, thank you all for your support and positive thoughts. I just *know* they helped!

Sandra, that's fantastic news!! So happy for your friend and his family and friends. That certainly was the best possible outcome. I too love this group. Everyone is so nice and supportive of one another and I think that's why I it made it so easy to share my writing.

This is such a warm, beautiful group, and I'm very happy to be here. Your caring means a lot to me. My friend's having a terrible year. His dad and his aunt died in March and April, and now this. He's only 45 years old, so this has been the final blow. He's an only child and after he moved here 10 years ago, he left all his family behind (his mom died 18 years ago). He's pretty much on his own fighting "the alien", as he calls his cancer, so we're all doing everything we can so he's not alone.

It sounds like he chose his friends very wisely. What a wonderful blessing to have good caring friends.

For what it's worth, very localised carcinomas of the caecum frequently do well after treatment.

For what it's worth, very localised carcinomas of the caecum frequently do well after treatment. That's what we're counting on. Two of our friends are doctors (one of them is a radiologist, so he comes across similar cases mostly every day.) He emphasizes on the fact that cancers like this have a very good prognosis, even if the tumour has metastasized, which is not his case. He's helping a lot to assuage his fears, because he's a very hypochondriac person. He had all the preoperative tests yesterday, so now we can only wait for the operation. It'll be next week, or the week after that at the latest. Thank you for your support. Sharing is good for the soul.
