So I heard that James Garner has died aged 86. He did The Americanization of Emily, victor/Victoria and One Special Night with Julie. Julie has always listed him as the best kisser of all her male co-stars (sorry CPlums). I feel sad.

Another sad news this week.
I feel sad too. ((Hugs)) for everyone. We still have all these amazing movies to watch. He will never be forgotten.
My thoughts go out to his family. May he rest in peace.

I heard the news just after waking up. My heart goes out to his family, to Julie, and to everyone who loved him.

Although she's been know to say she couldn't pick a fave film, apparently it was one of her favourites too. Probably because he was "the best kisser" in her leading men group.

Americanization of Emily is at 10pm. After that, The Children's Hour at midnight and then for night owls, Victor/Victoria.
One that I liked that isn't showing is 36 Hours. But they aren't showing some if his better known westerns either. At least they got the two with Julie right.

What about One Special Night?? Put that on the agenda and it would make it a special night

What about One Special Night?? Put that on the agenda and it would make it a special night My husband was hoping they'd show Barbarians at the Gate, but I think both of these were TV movies? The others all had theatrical release.

My Dad has no idea about technology and is really 'old school'. So he cut out a newspaper clipping about James Garner dying (yes from a real newspaper) and mailed it to me (in an envelope with a stamp) along with a hand written note then he called me on the landline to see whether I had gotten it (or heard that he had died - yes Dad, I had heard).
I asked him whether he had read Julie's statement on James's death and he hadn't (because he doesn't understand this foreign thing called the Internet) so I read it out to him.
Conversation quickly turned to Julie and James movies then to Julie herself then onto TSOM when he then asked "is Christopher Plummer still alive?" He seemed surprised that I was mildly horrified by his question.

But if it was a TV movie, TCM doesn't own it, so they can't show it. They buy the rights to film catalogs from the studios.
