Oh I love shahrazad63 too. I wish I'd had the chance to read the second author's stories... why do people take good stories down, anyway?

Yes! I remembered that one too. I was disappointed it hadn't been finished. But honestly, this story kind of annoyed me. Firstly there was the uncomfortable reality of Georg and Elsa having sexy time (eww) for Elsa to be pregnant, but really the thing about asking Maria to stay to help Elsa with the baby and also with Maria and Georg still being in love, I thought it was quite heartless to put Maria in that situation. Anyway, I still enjoyed the story despite that and hope it would one day be finished.

I remember reading that one and thinking it was very well written but having mixed feelings about it too. I still would have loved to see the ending, anyway...

I had this feeling Elsa was going to ask them to raise the baby as theirs.

Some of my favorites of the SOM fandom... Absolute favoritesTrials of the Heart by Galan - This is my favorite SOM story and it really depresses me to learn that the author has taken down all of her SOM stories. If you gotten a chance to read it then you know how wonderful that story was. I love how M&G came together in it. The Brightest Star of All by Emartin - I remember when this story came out. There was a Christmas contest on Vanessa's SOM forum. I remember voting for it and was disapointed when it did not win. It's not very long but it certainly tugged on my heart strings! Unfinished FavoritesThe little girl and the sea captain by malintzin AU in which Georg takes in an orphaned Maria. They are separated and then reunited as Maria becomes governess to Georg's children. The story is written though 'present time' and flashbacks, with each chapter devoted to one timeline. I loved this story and sadly it was left unfinished. It's still on ff.net. Go check it out if you haven't read it. Back to You By Heavy Rotation -AU in which Maria is seperated from the family when escaping. The family thinks she's dead and she ends up with amensia. Maria never gains her memory and many years later they are reunited. With Maria being a very different person than she was before. Bremerhaven by scrubso AU in which Maria and Georg never marry but instead part ways at the end of summer. Georg is offered a commission with the Nazi's and for fear of being sperated from his children he accepts the offer. Maria leaves the convent and becomes a nurse in the war. They are reunited and begin an affair. Gypsy Travelers by mquest AU in which Maria and Georg get lost and a whole bunch of crazy shit happens to them. Including getting married while drunk! Favorite AuthorsShahrazad63 Sandra is a wonderful writer who was always rewriting her stories. And made them even better! She also made the wonderful and colorful characters of Peggy and Hans Schneider. Hans, who as I recall had such a colorful past that, that wasn't even his real name! Highlights: Treasures - Sandra's first story to feature Peggy and Hans. Before The party, Georg is talked into having a treasure hunt. Something that was quite frequent when Agathe was still alive. Georg reconnects with some old friends in hopes of finding a grand prize for the hunt. Nothing comes from Nothing (revised) - Oh how I love this story! It follows the film very well, with the addition of Lady (?) Whitehead (a force of nature) and her opinion on Georg's choice of wife. imnotacommittee how can you not love her stories? Highlights:By the Fountain Streets of Salzburg - SOM action adventure! I remember waiting on pins and needles for updates when this story was being written! JoolsFan wrote a wonderful sequel to this story called Flight to Freedom. My Mind and Soul- AU story in which Maria is not a postulant at the abbey. Go read it! Joolsfan the closest to SOM had to a smut writer before there was SOM smut. Highlights:Honeymoon in Paris - the title says it all. Love the little reference to Victor/Victoria in this! Other favorite authors...Jelpy, Illandra, ForeverJulie, RKF55, blingblot, augiesannie, charleybec, thoroughlymodernJulie, lemacd, TrapperII

I love Bremerhaven... I wish it was finished. Unfinished stories are sad, not just because we are left hanging but I can't help but wonder if something's happened to the writer, especially ones that were clearly labored of love to start, like 18 chapters and then just... Nothing.
I feel bad because I left my last LH unfinished, I had so many plans for it. But I did leave it at a place that seems like an end and I abandoned it for TSOM so...
It was a crappy feeling for awhile. I don't ever want to leave a story unfinished. It would haunt me.

It's funny, even though we are so rich with new fics, this still makes me miss the old ones!

There's something that's just so sad about an unfinished one... Sometimes I feel like dropping a line and asking an author whatever happened but I usually feel like that's too pushy or needy or whatever, and I never do it.

It was a crappy feeling for awhile. I don't ever want to leave a story unfinished. It would haunt me. Oh I know the feeling.... My Dr. Quinn fic have been haunting me for that past 1½ year... almost two years (this June!!!!)... got hooked in here And you ladies know the rest of that story.... it's even amazing that I managed to write out that NCIS story I just wrote... and now I started a new little fluffy project for Maria and Georg... while my 17 going 18 is still a work in progress.... (still not sure how and where I want to go with it.... sooooo bad of me starting a story that I don't really know where it will end...) so that piece might be the next story to haunt my mind....

I struggled to finish my longer stories but I was determined not to leave them unfinished and I will say I did finish them. But sometimes people just lose interest, it happens.

Was going through some older stuff and I re-read The Little Things by newgirl87 (or what exists of it) because I couldn't remember exactly what happened. It's a shame it was never finished.

I hate fanfics are never finished. I have written two fanfics for the show Christy and I'm thinking about dabbling in some for TSOM, but finding the time to do it is my biggest issue with two little ones running around the house. I can't stand it when they never finish them, but you never know the reason why and the person may have had something big come up in their lives that left no time for it. I just get frustrated because I'm hungry to find out where they were going with it.

sagaofjenny, good news for you... I'll be helming the rest of "All That's Left Behind" with the co-author overseeing as executive producer. We're rehashing all our plans for it as I speak.

Here's an older one that I absolutely love. There are some fantastic stories wayyy back there. Including some that have unfortunately never been finished. Those ones stress me out; I need to know the rest of the story! ;-; It makes me super sad that this story seems to have been taken down. I love a good long read. I hate coming "late" to a fandom when some of the older well loved stories are removed. It makes me feel like I have missed out on something special. Oh well, still a lot out there to love.

According to the link it was called Trials of the Heart. Another one i think I saw mentioned several times was a Betrothal or something like that. Somehow missing a fic people loved feels like missing a scene of the movie or something. There is a piece of M&g out there somewhere that could be savoured and yet it is out of reach. *sigh* Guess I should start working on something of my own.

Oh that's a shame. Apparently (if you scroll back up) I HAD been looking forward to reading it.
When old stories are taken down, it sends me into a panic that some of my faves will be deleted so I think I need to find a way of saving them, just in case....

Thankfully I have saved many fan fiction stories.I use a program called fanfiction downloader. It works great to save stories from fanfiction.net. If anyone is ever looking for a story that has been taken down just message me on Facebook or email me chances are I might have it.

PSA -- if anyone is looking for a copy of The Betrothal, I have it. I've even cleaned up the original file format, grammar errors, typos, etc... I haven't reread this a ton or anything. No, not at all.

*edited* I was going to advise to ask Josephine, but I see she already offered her help! Next time I should first refresh the forum, read up and then post instead of the other way around haha *edited once more* I had a look with the Wayback Machine (such a wonderful thing!) and found this: web.archive.org/web/20090325061928/http://www.fanfiction.net/u/454513/Becky215However no TSOM titles there, I'm afraid...
