Oh, I remember watching that. It was hilarious! Seth MacFarlane is such a fan of musicals, and TSOM in particular, it was just great that it was such a perfect opportunity.

I think the bit was to introduce him as a presenter so the reaction might not be as connected to the joke as audience applauding him.

Yes, I found it and there is mild laughter at the joke and then a warm welcome from him. He smiles at the orchestra which is playing TSOM and says something like, "find another song."
