I acknowledge Mary Martin's importance to the history of American musical theater, but I just never liked her.
Rebecca Luker did a lovely job, and I was impressed that Marie Osmond learned to sing the correct style for this and for The King and I. If someone had taken the time to do that with Carrie she may have had a fighting chance, even with no acting skill.

Ooh, I'll have to listen to all these later, but I'm interested in Rebecca Luker as Maria. I think she was the Christine Daae understudy in the original Broadway cast of Phantom of the Opera, so she must have an awesome voice.

I've been privileged to see Rebecca Luker on stage several times, and she is amazing. She can take anything thrown at her and make it new and wonderful.

Rebecca Luker was Maria when I saw the TSOM play in New York in 1998.
