I stumbled across a fantastic website called "Edelweiss Patterns". The owner created sewing patterns for some of the dresses from TSOM including: Liesl's "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" dress, the Baroness' party gown, and of course, Maria's blue gazebo dress. If only if I knew how to sew... www.edelweisspatterns.com/There's also a blog on her site. And there's a TSOM quiz in one of her posts! Try it--it's really tough. I got 75%. And I thought I knew the movie inside out! Quiz: www.edelweisspatterns.com/blog/?p=4818 (you might have to scroll down a bit to find it) Share your results!

That's really cool. I've always liked the blue dress wears during Edelweiss and the gazebo scene. My niece would look really good in it with her blond hair and blue eyes.

I once stapled up my trouser hems in desperation. Would seem blasphemous for me to even touch these patterns

www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n6y21hIObY Hoping I have some inspiration for you...this Seamstressed video! This wacky lady (eventually) makes an exact copy of Maria's Laendler Dirndl dress. If you have had your fill of watching her tribulations whilst making it, speed forward to 9:35 for some shots of sunny Salzburg and the Villa von Trapp, through which she parades in her pretty dirndl...

I'm short on time today, so I intended on skipping right to the Salzburg part, but then I started watching this person, and just couldn't stop, and ended up watching the whole video. She's hilarious! And very talented - the dress turned out great! I love that she snuck onto the pegasus landing and got secret cell phone footage of her dirndl fangirling. hahaha. I wish she knew about our forum. She'd fit right in here!
