Just wanted to give a shout out to all you mom's on the board. Have a wonderful Mother's Day with your families. I love being a mom, nothing has made me laugh, cry, and love more than my two kids have. They fill my heart with joy everyday. It's hard work, but I wouldn't trade my job for any other. Happy Mother's day all!

Oooo! Thank you!
My mother's day started with my daughter wetting the bed at 4am, my son up at 5am and my other daughter up at 5.30am so no sleep in for me (sad I know!) Then I did a competitive 8km run called the Mother's Day classic raising money for breast cancer research (smashed a PB by about 3 min! YAY!) then did a bunch of lesson preps for my teaching practicum that I'm on, then was taken out for dinner by the family.
But the best bit? Finally getting to open TSOM 50th anniversary box set that I bought myself months ago for Mother's day!

My son asked, "if we let mom pick, can we do something fun?" He's been kinda on my nerves all morning because he's acted somewhat resentful to the whole "give mom some attention" thing because, you know, he doesn't like to share. So yeah, I was being spiteful, not exactly living up to my new 'best mom ever' mug, but I said I want to stay home and watch TSOM with my family. He was not very thrilled.

Hey, TSOM can make anyone's day. I had to watch the waltz scene this morning - research, you know - and ended up watching all the way through the gazebo I had a card and an "I love you" call from the 24 yo. I was proud that he also called the mom of his friend who died a week ago. I know that was hard for him to do. Drove home from upstate NY this morning, where we were picking up the 20 yo from college, so nice to have him in the nest for Mothers Day. He is madly washing all the clothes he owns and has graciously agreed to Mexican food for dinner because it's Mom's favorite. I will say that Mothers Day is a little more subdued since I lost my own mom, but it's still nice. I wish all of you a wonderful MD too!

Oh man, augiesannie you are doing the mom thing so right. Your boys rock. We are experiencing some stormy kind of weather and the satellite went out. I suggested we put TSOM on and the youngest hoolie shouted it down. Sigh. Maybe after he goes to bed. I'd rather it be quiet anyway.

I went to church, had a three hour nap, and got Chinese takeout for dinner. Fiona gave me a card she made at school that said if she could give me one thing I really want it would be to meet Julie Andrews. Surly 14 year old bought me a skein of yarn, and the man-child gave me a lovely, serious card and a bag of chocolates. Then he and his dad took my car to the car wash.
Hubs turned off my alarm this morning and walked the dog for me. And, well, he tells everyone he bought me a new house, lol. No gift giving between us the rest of the year.

Well my day went something like this. It started off at midnight when I stayed up until 3 in the morning finish the first chapter of my fanfic. I then woke up at 6:30 to get ready for church where they recognized all the mom's my giving them a rose. We then went to Red Lobster for lunch afterward with my parents. I then took my family home and went to the cemetery with my mom to put flowers on my grandmother and sister's graves. I had a very close relationship with my grandmother so I go with her often to do this. I then went for a 6 mile walk around a local lake and had some wonderful me time while the hubby and the kids took a nap. I came home to my 4 year old daughter eating sunflower seeds on the couch, shell and all and my 6 year old messing around with the laptop. At that point I decided that Mom's day was over and reality set in that I had two children that needed to be put to bed. Now I'm here with all of you reading through the board and about to work on my next chapter to my fanfic. I love being a mom, you can escape for a few hours, but your thoughts are always with your kids and there is always something to be done.
