....watched the gazebo scene yesterday. For like the millionth time. And you know, I get why G wears those trachten jackets for so much of the film (quasi military, traditional Austrian) and of course he is swoony at the party BUT I think that all makes a delicious contrast to how he looks when he shows up in his suit at the gazebo. (He wore a suit in the opening dinner scene too, I guess that's dinner attire). He looks unbelievably handsome in a restrained sort of way.

I have a nice afternoon of daydreaming set up now! Thanks augiesannie!

I like the Austrian jackets. I like the way he looks in them, but that suit is a nice contrast and he does look extremely debonair. Let's face it though ladies he could be wearing some of those play clothes made from drapes and we would still be swooning over him because he would make the drapes look good.

Yes, and of course it is all part of the 'relaxation schedule' he is undergoing, because (I may be mistaken) I don't think he wears trachten again, does he? (Some sort of travelling/riding clothes at the concert hall, maybe), and do I detect his hair being a little more... swooshy in that scene?
But yes...totally dreamy... just the hots...

Yes and yes and yes and yes to all of it.
That man wears a suit like nobody's business. There is almost no aging done makeup wise, and his hair is much softer---not quite honeymoon-mussed, but well on its way. He looks very refined, suave, debonair, and that makes it even more effective when he starts with the "well, it was all wrong when you went away" pouty business.
{swoon}

Somehow I feel this thread is incomplete without two screencaps to illustrate the concepts being discussed:
Item no 1 "Everything felt all wrong when you were away"
Item no 2 - That Suit - annoyingly, although there are some delicious screencaps of our man, the ones I tried to post seem to be too big to upload - can anyone help?(large pic desirable...)

I like the way he looks when she first sees him emerging out of the darkness, just after she hears him say hello. And then there's this:

Is it me or does his hair seem extra poofy in the pics where he's sitting but in the gazebo it's more, erm... relaxed?
Ok super analyzer friends... have at it.

It does look a bit that way. I think it might be the angle----there's no real part, but the top is sort of combed over toward the left. We see mostly his right profile before they go into the gazebo, and his left when he's inside.

Remember they did take a 2 hour lunch break when filming this scene so they may have redone his hair when they came back. I think it just Looks overall poofier them normal g throughout both this scene and the balcony scene.
