This just popped in my head and wouldn't go away. I apologize. Liesl: And that is the only von Trapp ball that you will ever touch! Brigitta: Oooh, good one Liesl!

Don't apologise - give us more!
Talking of which - do you think it possible that the kids rounded on Elsa and said they didn't approve of her becoming their mother? A sort of kid-power thing? (Not using the exact words above, of course...)

AHAHAHAHAHA
hmm I don't think they would say it outright like corner her in her room and go like "Hey Baroness, don't you step any closer to our father. You want to get to Father, you'll have to get through us first. Which you never will!! /WAR CRIES!!!!/" /pull out samurai swords/
because they were born into a family / society where manners are top on the list (plus there's the issue of the Captain) so I think they would do it in a more subtle way, like maybe giving her evil side eyes or collectively not responding when she tries to talk to them or something to show their disapproval haha kind of like what they do with the governesses?

Yes, not outright calling her out, but playing tricks on her like they did their governess's. Of course they might be a little more cautious with that because they have a better relationship with their father and wouldn't want to mess that up by getting negative attention from him again, if that makes sense.

So...I was originally going to start a new thread in the movie section about this ball game, but I happened upon this today and decided to just stick it here for everyone's amusement reading over this thread.
Anyway...the ball game...the body language especially is so dramatically different than any time they are playing with Maria. Thoughts on this ball game and what it shows us?

First thought? Elsa is not athletic at all. She is making somewhat of a conscious effort to get to know the children and be (this probably isn't the right word) civil towards them. I honestly applaud her effort even though it may be a bit, for lack of a better term, half hearted. Elsa tries, yes. She just doesn't try hard enough. Or have the want, to try hard.
In conclusion, she gets a C- for effort.

The kids are super-despondent and lacking enthusiasm - they aren't making it easy for Elsa!

I wonder what would happen if the children knew what Elsa said to Maria.... I think I just got a plot bunny.
