I don't like Petula Clark's very much nor Mary Martin's. Julie's is favorite because it is just so simple and not very flashy, yet elegant at the same time.

Agreed. In my opinion Julie's is a 'Hollywood' version of the real Maria's one. Some of them just get way too extravagant and seem OOC.

Well, Julie's of course. Simple and elegant.
I'd like to see better photos of all of them, as the detailing is really not visible. But I have always hated Mary Martin's headpiece with an unholy passion. She looks like a bride of Christ, not the bride of a naval hero. I get why they did it, but it was poorly executed.

Just adding another wedding dress into this thread..... from the Danish stage production they are doing right now....   I kinda like that dress... with the frills and all... and the captain IS rather dashing too and now to the other stage production I saw in 2002.... not proud of it in any way Attachment DeletedIt really just is boring costumes... and let me not start talking about the actors..... GOD... they just DON'T fit the roles of Maria and the Captain :/ |
