I was in Austria last month and was able to visit Schloss Frohnburg. So surprising that it really hasn't changed much since 1960s and it is pretty much smaller than it looks in the movie:)   |

I was there in July and I went to Frohnburg too. The road to get there is SO long.
Still so beautiful.

Glad to see Anne's comment about the lake-bound castle in the opening sequences of the film, because it is one of my favourites too:
 Schloss Anif, outside Salzburg, was built as a fortress in the 1500s and then 'romanticised' in the 1850s - still in private hands:
 
Hard not to feel romantic if you are there!
