I've been going through file boxes my mother-in-law kept (thousands of documents, in no particular order, so I have to look at every single piece of paper).
Anyway, I found a paper from one of my father-in-law's distant cousins. A photocopy of a yearbook page from McGill University, 1919, of my husband's grandfather. He eventually became a doctor. Around that time, CP's father was working for the Dean of the School of sciences, though I can't find any dates for his employment. Wonder if they knew each other. Weird, right?
I suppose going back far enough you can find connections between any two people but I thought that was kind of cool.

That's awesome! As the theory goes, we are all connected to everybody in the world by a maximum of 6 degrees of separation. I like to play the "6 degrees of separation" game in my head (when I'm doing something mindless like taking a shower) by connecting myself with celebrities using the fewest connections as possible.
I can connect myself to CP by 2 degrees of separation: Me - the artistic director of my city's classical music festival - Christopher Plummer. As for JA, it would be 3 degrees of separation (unless there's someone I know who personally knows JA!).

I wonder what his father looked like Your wish is my command: link to article below. The article says it wasn't Chris' father but his mother that worked at McGill, which actually makes more sense, since they lived practically down the street. link

Much more like his father than his mother, though. I do see a hint of his smirk here.

Thank you his eyes look more like his father's but yes, I can definitely see a hint of his smirk on his mom's face.

I don't know, now that I've seen the picture of his mother I totally think he looks a lot like her.

Utility Supersleuth! Fascinating! I wonder from whence flow his wit and elegance? That will take a bit longer to research. In his book he says he was raised the only child in a household full of grandparents, mother, and aunts in a style to the manner born. The last gasp of a moneyed and formal era, with an emphasis on literature and culture. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. I also really need to read his book again.

That's an amazing article utility_singer. Do we assume that it's no accident he ended up being the same kind of father, his father was?

That's an amazing article utility_singer. Do we assume that it's no accident he ended up being the same kind of father, his father was? I would assume that's the case, whether it was a conscious choice or not. In many ways it would certainly have been the 'easy' choice for him, having split with Tammy, living/working in England for a large part of Amanda's childhood, and not liking (or wanting, one would assume) children.
