I am no expert at dance, so does anyone know the rest of the choreography to the laendler after Maria stops dancing? Thanks!

The problem is that it was choreographed specifically for the film and only inspired by traditional dances, so there probably isn't an ending. I guess you might make up your own? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks! As I said before, I don't know anything about dance, so this is going to be a challenge. Woooeee!

The entry for laendler at wikipedia states that the movie choreography was heavily based on the traditional steps. I found this youtube video of an Austrian dance troupe, though it doesn't really 'end' they just stop couple by couple.

you can also see that actual ländler are not quite as elegant as the von Trapp ball required

I know how it should have ended, they should have kissed.

I know how it should have ended, they should have kissed. Yes, that is what I was told by several choreographers, as it is a 'courtship' dance. One version on youtube has the man down on one knee, kissing the hand of his partner.

I haven't got the film to hand, but I do know that we see the guests inside the ballroom dancing the Laendler (in snippets) at the same time as Our Couple; worth checking to see whether they are still dancing when M&G stop! (Behind the Baroness when she says 'My, what a lovely couple you make'...)

Just checked screencaps... The other guests appear to be just standing around and talking. They look pretty much the same the entire time after the "I don't remember any more" line.

Ah, but the 'kiss' would have been while they were still and staring at each other, sometime before we see the other guests again. We may never know....

The guests, iphones in hand, were clustered near the French doors, madly snapping photos of the lovely couple.

.......while Maria and Georg were absorbed in a few selfies of the momentous occasion. I have always wondering how CP and Julie prepared for this dance!? Are they practice together ?! Is this real reason how CP change his opinion about Juli?!

Is this real reason how CP change his opinion about Juli?! I believe they did practice quite a bit - there are stories about CP showing up for rehearsal in ballet tights. I don't know if he changed his opinion - I've seen him quoted as having admired her and even that being a reason for his agreeing to do the film, and that he admired her even more because of her work ethic on the film. He DID change his opinion about the film and his popularity because of it, maybe that's what you mean.

I'm glad I saw this thread, I always wondered how the dance ended (although I knew how I wanted it to end). I was always too busy dreamily staring at the unbelievable amount of chemistry they had with one another.

Yes I even saw somewhere that picture I really don't know how for God sake Julie stay sirius and not laughing.
