As Augiesannie said, June is our tenth anniversary! I have several quirky TSOM-related videos to post to get everyone in the mood then, and it'd be great to celebrate by having some of your short stories and vignettes or puzzles to post on the board here during the month of June, so we're encouraging you to get scribbling now - it doesn't matter how short it is (could be a few lines, or perhaps something on the theme of 'ten' - anything you like, jigsaw puzzles, photos, drawings).
It looks like we may hit 30,000 posts around that time, so we hope you will post away your stuff in June to get us to that magic number!

Ooooh!!! This gives me the motivation to work on the TSOM painting I have been planning on doing. I must say, I am truly thankful for this forum. It is such a nice place to chat and make friends who fangirl over TSOM as much as I do. Thank you augiesannie & indigoblue for creating this forum! Y'all are rockstars

Long time no see. It's been 5-6 years since I last participated in this board. *ikes, hides* I wrote my last TSOM fic back in 2017... then skipped two years ahead and I found myself lost in the "Once Upon a Time" Fandom and wrote my first OUAT fanfiction in 2019. My first TSOM fic was posted back in 2012, so that makes it 5 years that I dedicated my fanfiction writing to TSOM. My time here on the board is filled with good memories and wonderful stories, I must admit it's not many TSOM fics I read these days. Things changed for me I guess. BUT know this, those years in TSOM fandom and experiencing all that with you ladies in here, helped me build my confidence in my ability to write. I still get excited whenever I hear about TSOM or hear one of the songs, the love for the movie and characters never died. I might seem lost to the TSOM fandom but you're certainly NOT forgotten. I hope you all will have a wonderful 10-year celebration going on in here. You truly deserve that, wow, having held on to this for so many years, that is outstanding.

Hi mie779! Welcome back - I remember your fun and interesting posts!
Why not submit a little TSOM vignette to join in the celebrations, and you never know...you may catch the bug again!

what a beautiful sentiment, mie779, thanks for sharing! I think mie779 made her way here because I posted something in the old Facebook group. A lot of "likes," but not as many visits as I'd like! Ah, well, I'll try again when we get closer. Maybe I have to think of a way to make it easier.

I'll have to come up with something, too! Since finding you all, I've gone through two house moves, a divorce, two jobs and retirement, and a host of other things. You all (and TSOM) helped me keep my sanity, even when I wasn't being present and participating.

Even when I was silent, I was here .... <3

hello. I should probably introduce myself... you might know me as the chick that keeps resurrecting the movie cap discussions only to disappear again. It must be so frustrating, and I feel awful but there are times when something has to give, you know? When this board started I was a mom to littles (well, 5 and 7) and now they're teenagers and it's a whole new bag of tricks. I never did get them to sit and watch this movie with me. Oh well. Other stuff has happened since then to derail my involvement and motivations. But a anniversary celebration in June might be the ticket to poke my SOM muse and contribute.
I confess that I have drifted into other fandoms in the last decade. This is by FAR the best one. The most peaceful, kind and supportive. To the writers keeping it alive, I admire and am grateful to you.

ooh this is exciting news! I am so happy to have stumbled upon this group, it is a joy to visit and find support in other crazy (in a good way!) fans We all love it as much as everyone else in this group. I honestly kill more time on this site than any other media site. All good vibes (and writing fodder!). And Eeek. I turn 50 in June, so it's a good month to party!

Just a gentle nudge for those who are considering contributing (even in a small way) to the Tenth Anniversary celebrations...probably easiest for people to post here whenever they feel like it in the month of June. No item too small!!

No item too small!! I was actually just going to write to ask how we should share? I came up with a bit of Inspo the other day, and I am in the midst of a 'short' story...do we just post them here on the boards in full, or post a link?

How about posting it directly here if it is short, but post a link if it is longer? Ultimately it is up to you!

Looking forward to your Tenth Anniversary offerings in June - photos, thoughts, stories, jigsaws - you name it!
It'd be great if we have (say) one post each day in the month of June - just pick your favourite day and post away!

I like the idea of a post a day indigoblue - would we have some kind of signup? Or have everyone send ideas to a central person?

I thought it would be easiest if people just posted when they felt like it - especially if no-one else had that day! To kick things off, and as it has just turned 1 June here in the UK, here is my first offering: the great bells of Salzburg Cathedral, which Maria would have known well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=puC-E4f9keM (It takes at least a minute for all the bells to ring out) And if you want to see the bells actually ringing in the cathedral loft, see here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t7YCQvRYsAI will mention that it takes about a minute or two for the bells to swing high enough to ring - enjoy this fabulous sound!

Ok - here it is! This is my first story OUTSIDE of the story that has consumed my life for almost 2 years now (sheesh, and we haven't even made it to the puppet show yet LOL). I just posted chapter 27 of that baby yesterday, so here's this little ditty...it's written differently than my regular spiel. Good thing I don't have an editor, or it would never be posted anywhere. Initially, I posted it here, but it seemed so long and obnoxious (LOL), so here's the link to the story: www.fanfiction.net/s/14239864/1/On-the-Stairs

Hello everyone and happy 10th anniversary. It's been a while since I've been in here because sometimes life just gets you moving. This board is still so amazing though. I've been reading through it. TSOM is still my favorite movie!

so happy to have heard from clarinetjamie and lemacd! and utility_singer! and everyone really. Recently I was in touch with some TSOM people on Twitter @mimi and Instagram @meredith. They both knew about this community and I hope they might promote us a little bit. I also took the requirement to preregister off the site - I find that when people have to wait for approval, they often don't come back. I had put that requirement on after some scary troll experiences but I can see how it goes this time.

I really enjoyed this documentary involving the grown-up kids, which was made a few years ago for British TV. They revisit Salzburg and reflect on making the film and life afterwards, with lots of family film clips which show many of the scenes we know so well, but from a different viewpoint. Many of their observations are new and insightful, so I thought you'd enjoy it too! www.youtube.com/watch?v=h83z2EXljgA

Here's another really interesting one, again for British TV, with a lot of new material. The amusing Sue Perkins (a self-confessed SOM fan) tries to find out why it has such a lasting legacy. There is a lot of fascinating stuff in here, with clips from the real family films, interviews with Austrians, some funny moments at Sing-a-longs, and following the family route to the US. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMVXS_xNIz0 Something for you to enjoy with your cup of coffee!

been quiet around here lately. I know I've had times when I'm just too busy to get here. As mentioned earlier, I've been in touch with people who are very active in the Insta and Twitter fandoms, trying to understand how to make connections. How to get people to come over here, I guess, but also generating new ideas or thoughts for us (or for fics!) They all think that it's great to have this place for deeper more detailed discussions, but you can't just post there to get people here, you have to have a "hook," which is probably to post some of the more provocative and interesting questions, or where we have done delicious microanalysis. And only a few good examples. So I'm going to dig around in here to see what I think might tickle someone's fancy. IDK, maybe in the long run we will learn that this kind of "long form" place is outmoded, but I'm not giving up on it yet. Tagging folks who have been here in the last two months and looking for any advice about how to make connections to these other platforms: indigoblue, Chris&Byng, galan, schnitzelwithnoodles, sandra, tennegau, thoughts-of-joy-dreams-of-love, josephine, gadsauntie, dontevenknowher, MeltIntoSpring, unfollowthesun, utility_singer, clarinetjamie, Silver-White-Winters, reverendcaptain, mariarainers, ro2022, lemacd, bluesatinsashes, itsdayandnight, proboard.
