Many of these are new to me (and I've seen quite a few!). Great to see so many of the kids rehearsing -adds a lot of interest.
Thanks for posting

The first photo is Joanne Woodward, they were on location for The Shadow Box. 1980.

The man trying to get the shot is Paul Newman who was directing. Funny story. Apparently Plummer's younger co-star, Ben Masters was out with Plummer and Newman one night when four ladies flashed the older pair, yelling out to them. Masters just thought it was 'insane.' Plummer grinned and Newman (who was always uncomfortable as a sex symbol) just looked sheepish and said 'it always happens.'

Anyone remembered Paul and Julie were together in Torn Curtain?

Absolutely. I'm a massive Paul Newman fan as well (pretty much how I became a film buff). Though Torn Curtain is certainly not his shining hour.

How funny! I was just leafing through a DVD catalogue this afternoon and came across one of Torn Curtain, and was wondering whether it was any good? Worth seeing for Julie and Paul?

I'm not obsessed with Paul Newman, but I'd say yes

Not the best movie I've ever seen but I did enjoy Paul and Julie. They have, IMO, a pretty steamy love scene. Nothing explicit, though. Fun fact: little Emma makes a cameo with Hitchcock. She's the child sitting on Hitch's lap.

Yeah I knew that. Saw Hitchcock (didn't know about his signature cameo in his movies, but figured it was him anyway;) then when I delved deeper into the research,(as a Julie enthusiast such as myself does) I found out the baby was Emma.

Too much pretty in one photo...Newman and Andrews were pretty much the biggest male and female movie stars in the world at this time, so Paramount wanted both of them in Torn Curtain. It was not the right decision.
I always liked Andrews in this dress

She's gorgeous in both photos. Me, I adore Newman. I adore Julie. Just don't feel any sparks from them onscreen.

Me too utility. I think one critic compared it to Hud getting into bed with Mary Poppins
It just does not work...

Some more images: Before the rowboat or After the rowboat capsizes I have a theory this is Julie being filmed (wet) for the Argument ! Argument The photo on the right of Julie surrounded by people surprised me - if it is for her part of the Argument, then it must have been difficult to appear so realistic with so many people around! And having to have her lines fed to her by CP (who was off camera). What do you think?

Nah, that's pretty typical for a film set I'd imagine. And with one of the greatest actors of our time to play off of, it would make the acting easier. I did think it was her side of the argument that was filmed in LA on set, while it was Chris' part (with the lake behind him) that was on location? But maybe they did it both ways?

I can't think what other scene it is, as she looks pretty wet!

Well, there were times when the lake was behind her, and times when the house was behind her, so I guess they filmed it both ways?

Those are awesome, I haven't seen those before. I guess that last ones answer the questions about who is in that other picture.

I must have missed this thread while on hiatus last fall! I believe both sides of the argument were filmed on location, but at two different places. Another reason it is such an amazing scene. You'd never believe that, would you?
