Maybe we should do perhaps 1 in 10 of the screencaps - that should cover most things bar the minute detail, and would make it a lot easier.

You know you've watched TSOM too many times when you can immediately notice when someone's life story bears a resemblance to TSOM (not mine, my cousin's)
So basically my cousin (he's around 25?) is a religious teacher at a few mosques around Singapore, and sometimes leads in prayers. One day, one of the members of the congregation (this random uncle) asks him to be his family's personal religious teacher (okay here we go). So my cousin agrees, and goes to their house every week to do so. The family has a 20-something year old daughter, and (everything from this point onwards I gleaned from my mom) after some time, my cousin realised that he was increasingly looking forward to his weekly classes (familiar?). And he kept thinking about the girl and couldn't get her out of her mind. He got scared and confused because he had never felt that way before (familiar, no?) so he went away on a 40-day pilgrimage in order to distance himself from the family for a while (familiar right omg). But when he came back, his feelings were stronger than ever so he finally gathered the courage to confess to his parents and the girl's family and now their happily engaged and are set to be married this October.
Okay I just had to find an excuse to tell someone about this because the similarities were driving me mad. And who else other than you guys? Hahahaha

^ Aww that is so sweet! Did you ever tell him about the parallels between his story and TSOM?

No! Hahaha I'm just scared that he might think that I've been prying into his private life when really I got the whole story from my mom ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I'll check up on the backups.
what I meant by the page numbers is just to have a little help navigating. Like:
where roughly is the ballroom door? gazebo first kiss (85) laendler maria's return gloves (58) and so on.
other key points? you'd just need the page number to get close without fumbling around.

You know you've seen TSOM too many times when you memorize number combinations by substituting the numbers for the childrens' names. (I would memorize 624 as Marta-Friedrich-Kurt)

when you and a friend are talking about how bored you are in class and how the teacher keeps asking you to participate but you don't want to and all you can think to say is "apparently we both suffer from a deplorable lack of curiosity" and have a laughing attack because you're oh so funny (and also all of the captain's lines are so wonderful)

also when you hear someone say "I'm looking for someone who's confident" and you think: I have confidence in sunshine, I have confidence in rain, i have confidence that spring will come again....

It's possible that someone mentioned it before...but... You know you have watched TSOM too many times when... you're sitting at the restaurant reading the dessert menu and read they have apple strudels and say "A crisp Apfelstrudel is also one of my favorite things." after which the person sitting opposite you gives you a puzzled look (that happened to me last Saturday night).

Lol, did they let it go or did you have to explain yourself? She just let it slide after a couple of seconds of awkward silence and we moved on to the next subject. lol On second thought... I think I did mutter something like "I always think of TSOM when I read Apple strudels."...and then the awkward pause followed. hahaha

You don't believe you can ever watch it enough You try to relate every song you hear to TSOM in some way You still get a bit overwhelmed when "The End" pops up as they sing "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" Even you're friends, who don't like the movie as much as you do, know just about everything because of you

You still get a bit overwhelmed when "The End" pops up as they sing "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" I feel you! I remember feeling overwhelmed as a five year-old. There was so much to it...I was so moved by it that my jaw would drop open as soon as the credits appeared. I was in so much denial I could not believe that was the end. I even waited till the end of the credits to see if there was an extra scene hidden at the end (crazy me! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ).

Same! I was so worked up when I first saw it. Like most movies I watched, I couldn't believe that it had to end and I still had so many questions. What happened after they climbed every mountain? and such. I suppose that's when I began creating stories; I couldn't stand to see any of the films I loved end!

Haha yes! I had the same thoughts too wondering, what happened after their mountain journey? That was all before FF.net was invented. When I was little, I thought that the movie was going to end at the wedding but was super relieved (and thrilled to the extent that I was screaming internally) when I saw the next scene pop up after seeing the shot of the church bells ringings.
On a side note, I was listening to a classical music radio show one day during Christmastime. That particular episode featured an opera singer from Armenia who immigrated to Canada as a teenager. Since it was Christmastime, she discussed her family Christmas ritual of watching The Sound of Music. She first saw it on TV as a child living in Armenia during a time when electricity was rationed. So when they reached the wedding scene, the power went out. And for the longest time, she thought the movie ended there. It wasn't until much later (not sure how much later) that she learned that there was more to the movie and that the ending wasn't as sugary sweet as she originally believed. Imagine having to live with that!

Yes, after I found FF.net, my life was forever changed. I didn't have to ask myself what happened, I could just pick an ending or continue the story! I think I would have a heart attack if I discovered that a movie I loved hadn't ended where I thought it ended.

I would also like to add that you know you've seen The Sound of Music too many times when...
*While you're on the internet, most of the ads along the bottom, top, or sides are for The Sound of Music show that is opening at the Boston Opera House (conveniently a few hours away) *Even the YouTube ads that pop up before the videos are for the same show
Perhaps I read so much SOM fan fiction that they just know what to advertise when it comes to all of my devices...

Apparently they're opening a new show going on from March 29th to April 10th or something like that. I actually have to usher at a production of Mary Poppins in a few weeks, speaking of shows and Julie Andrews...

Ad blocker=best thing ever I haven't had to sit through an ad prior to watching a YouTube video in years. Also, is anyone planning on seeing TSOM (Jack O'Brien production that was just mentioned)? I'm debating on whether I should go or not as I just saw TSOM last July (different production of course). It would be my fifth time watching TSOM live if I do go...meanwhile most of my friends have never seen a single musical in their life ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)
