You know you've watched TSOM too many times, when you try to make jokes about it whenever possible...I was in the laboratory today with a PhD student and the radio was on and they were talking about a family with 7 children here in Belgium. So I said 'SEVEN children?! Who has seven children nowadays?! Do they think they're the Von Trapp family?' Luckily the PhD student laughed, otherwise it would've been super awkward.

When your family and friends start picking up on things that could be considered a reference to the movie in real life because all you do is make references. The other day at church the preacher said something about being "incorrigible" and I got this little smirk on my face and my mom leans over and whispers "you like that he just said incorrigible, don't you?". This kind of stuff happens to me all of the time because I can't go an hour without making some sort of reference. It's a miracle I can function in the real world!!!

Oh my gosh...I can totally relate to this! With my family, anything and everything becomes a reference! Personally, you know you have watched it too many times when your elderly neighbour asks you "How's The Sound of Music today?" whenever he sees you and insists on ringing the door bell shouting "Telegram". No...I'm not joking!

You know someone ELSE has watched TSOM too many times when you see a shop like this: ![](//storage.proboards.com/5364626/thumbnailer/sZNsphD7pDgUrh0aBar_.jpg)

yes, it's a party. I read a blog post from the woman who did it (well, maybe not that exact one, but she made costumes for the guests)

Oh, I expect something like blue satin sashes, door bells and sleigh bells, and a few warm woollen mittens!

I know this sort of deviates from the subject, but a week ago, my friend started volunteering in the office of the summer music festival that I volunteer on an annual basis. Btw it's the festival which Christopher Plummer is participating this summer in Ottawa. She told me that tickets are selling fast for the CP concert. She asked me, "I don't know why so many people want to go to the Christopher Plummer concert! What's so special about it?" Umm, clearly someone hasn't seen TSOM before...

Or anything else he's done, frankly. Does she have any knowledge of movies or theater at all?

I don't know actually. I didn't want to get too much into it in case I accidentally reveal that I'm a crazy TSOM nut ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I walked down there. Did not have a guitar case to swing. I actually have a semi serious dream to run from the gazebo to the house in the time of 'I Have Confidence'. And I'm not a runner. At all. Am I crazy?

My son is playing his clarinet in his Primary School Summer Music Concert on Wednesday night and he came home today telling me that he had a choice of songs that he could choose from along with one song he is already playing. His choices are, Puff The Magic Dragon, Merrily Merrily. Old Macdonald and Eidelweiss... guess which one I voted for !!!!

I play the clarinet and I can honestly say that one truly is the best choice out of all of those, lol.

You hum a few notes and your 6 kids burst into a full chorus of the song... totally not hooked on tsom and cp.

I think that is one reason why I like it so much - it is a sort of universal language for all sorts of people, young and old.

You wake up at 6am in the morning wondering how many other people would love to see CP sing Edelweiss to JA now. I really wish they'd kept his vocals, they had feeling and emotion, they didn't need to be perfect.

Did anyone else who watched CP and JA in On Golden Pond keep having to tell themselves it wasn't Georg and Maria 50 years on? And kept expecting them to break into something like Edelweiss at any moment?!

Very much. In the end I was counting how many links there were to TSOM I think I fell off my chair the first time I watched the scene about berry picking.

You know that you've watched too much TSOM when: if you see a fountain, you immediately start marching around it and singing, "Do-Re-Mi", or at least you're inclined to do so. This has happened to me more than once...

whenever someone quotes a line or sings a song or messes up a trivia question about TSOM, you get irritated and say, "no, no, no... it's supposed to be _______." Has happened to me multiple times with siblings :/

I can't help myself, even though it immediately outs me as someone who has seen this movie too many times.

You know you've seen TSOM too many times when...even the Travel Adverts in the newspaper look oddly familiar - this one was for a River Trip down the Danube... I'm also dredging up this great thread from times past for you to enjoy...have fun!

You might have seen it a few times too many when you put the movie soundtrack in proper order from memory...including the entirely instrumental pieces. Though maybe that's just a recovering band geek problem...

Though maybe that's just a recovering band geek problem... I do this too! I don't think it's a band thing, just a fangirl thing. I have multiple SOM playlists. The whole soundtrack including instrumentals, just the song soundtrack, plus several with favorite songs for different listening times (workout vs. cooking dinner vs. relaxing outside etc.) I guess this puts me solidly in the "you know you have watched TSOM too many times when" group too...haha.
