The bottom photo is more interesting the more you look at it: all the kids are in costume, and even CP appears to have his hair swept back 'a la Capitaine'. Marta seems to be saying something (maybe 'Why can't we get to see the baroness?').
Robert Wise appears to be holding something - maybe in place of a piece of cutlery, so this (alternatively) could be him playing Maria when she says 'It's meant to be a secret Captain, between the children and me'.(It would make me laugh if he had done it in a high falsetto voice! But then the kids would be laughing too, so maybe not...)
The lady who is ubiquitous in these scenes - was she the voice coach, ensuring their pronounciation was practically perfect in every way? And Julie - I wonder where she was?

They could have been doing the very beginning setup, before Julie enters, with Bob giving some direction.

Yes, it would make sense for it to be Marc Breaux - he seems to be everywhere! But it does look hellishly like CP; AND is that his right hand in the white blanket on the left of Julie?! Intriguing...

Last one Thanks for sharing all these hidden gems! I have always wondered how all 7 kids plus Maria and the Captain were able to squeeze into that tiny car. The attachments don't seem to show up in quoted posts, so I'll re-post it:  I know that Gretl is sitting on Maria's lap, but how can 6 other children fit in the back? Would that mean that the 3 oldest children are sitting (hard to believe you can fit 3 teenagers sitting side by side by in that tiny car) and the next 3 kids would be sitting on their laps? Imagine Kurt sitting on either Friederich or Louisa's lap...ha! |

LOL I remember my dad's '72 Buick---we made a 6 hour vacation drive with 5 in the backseat and three in the front. Bench seats and no seatbelts, plus room for more.

Presumably the double bed in the top photo was so they could practice 'My Favourite Things', and is that CP with his back to us in the bottom photo? In which case this must be them going through the script for the dinner scene, as they are all sitting in the right order; presumably Robt Wise is reading Maria's part? The kids looking murderous in the 5th photo must be when they were told to 'look like naughty children' for when Maria arrived! Great unearthing! Yes, that is Chris, and Robert Wise. I think I have seen that one, but it's always worth another view. As for what's under that sheet, I can't even begin to speculate. My guess would be various movie props or something of the sort.

I don't know, but it looks like they're all leaning on a grand piano (covered by a white sheet) where someone placed some gigantic object on top of it and covered it with a yellow sheet.
